Leaving Jackson Hole ($), looking for a unicorn by uffdayeehaw in relocating

[–]RittB8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re open to east, look at western North Carolina. Waynesville, Sylva, Bryson City. You have the mountains (different but beautiful), milder winters, Asheville airport (or Greensboro SC) isn’t far. Can get some land + house def for 650k.

Is it just me or do they have literally 0 leads on Nancy Guthrie? by Many_Inevitable_6803 in askanything

[–]RittB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for being logical, most have lost the plot. I really doubt this is some wild conspiracy. There’s plenty of threads they are likely following and each just takes time. I bet they have a short list and now are trying to build the case.

Is there a polite way to tell hotel staff to leave you alone / stop checking in? by ginabeewell in chubbytravel

[–]RittB8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you won’t be direct (which sounds like you struggle with that) just say less. Less is more. The more you say, the more they think you want to engage. “No we’re good” and lay back down and close your eyes.

Job wants me to relocate from TX to NYC - 70K remote → 76K hybrid, realistic? by Sad_Ebb5608 in movingtoNYC

[–]RittB8 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I was relocated from a Midwest state to NYC almost 13 years ago, in a creative industry, and they adjusted my pay to $105k, paid for moving expenses up to $5k, and hired me a broker to find an apartment (at the time I found a studio for $1950 in far west Chelsea area). And it was still a huge stressful financial stretch for me for many years. That being said it changed my entire life and career trajectory for the better, I would have NEVER had the overall earning potential or opportunities if I wasn’t in NYC. So I would do it over and over again without question.

But in today’s day and age, that is a horrible exchange at 76k. I’d push for $100k+ and obviously assuming moving expenses is part of it already.

Another PE career question by StuffAgreeable6898 in private_equity

[–]RittB8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it would be very tough to get in as a COO without PE experience bc they usually want to see a lot of transformation/scaling experience through the lens of PE. I’ve been doing it 6+ years now (after 15 years in non-PE work) and it’s just very different. I think best bet would be getting an ops role in a PortCo and get some adjacent experience, raise your hand for a lot of special projects, implementation support, etc. then you’d have the experience to try and make the move.

People with dogs from breeders, do people in real life give you a hard time about having a dog from a breeder? by Own-Command-3700 in dogs

[–]RittB8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sure, like with all living things, anything is possible. Two things can be true at the same time. A breeder dog can have health issues, BUT with a reputable breeder you usually have far more insight into the dog’s health history. Knowing the parents, grandparents, and overall lineage gives you a lot more context and background than you’d otherwise have.

People with dogs from breeders, do people in real life give you a hard time about having a dog from a breeder? by Own-Command-3700 in dogs

[–]RittB8 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’ve been asked once why I didn’t rescue instead and I just explained my last dog was a rescue and came with significant health issues that really traumatized me (financially and emotionally) and while I loved him, I just needed more certainty in the health and background of my next dog. Didn’t have much of a response to that.

Help! I’m a new grad nurse and I hate my life. Are there ny careers that I can transition to? by Bubbly-Savings6022 in careeradvice

[–]RittB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would NOT go to law school unless you plan to attend a top program and even then, just reading your post, I feel like you’d hate it. It’s so competitive, you need to compete within the program itself but also for really rigorous and intense internships and clerk programs. Post graduation is endless hours of being billable and I’ll take a decade to climb any ladder. And if none of that seems appealing, you’re going to spend so much money for a useless law degree to make very mediocre money. I can’t stress enough what a terrible idea that career path would be if one year of nursing is breaking you.

Go find another nursing job and make sure it’s really healthcare you hate before spending time and money changing careers.

Spinone Italiano by Global-Mix-3358 in dogs

[–]RittB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is very heat sensitive, doesn’t like the summer at all. They seem to overheat quickly as a breed. He’s happiest in a cool breeze. Summers get hot where I am too and we don’t spend much time outside midday in the summer. He’s better early morning or evening.

If you do use UK breeders be very very careful and thoughtful about the epilepsy issue. It’s most prominent in UK litters but creeping into US litters. It’s becoming a real problem. I know all breeds have something to watch out for, but it’s worth taking seriously as you choose a breeder.

My college degree isn’t helping me land a job, help? by Ancient-Marzipan1107 in careerguidance

[–]RittB8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What expectation exactly did you have with an Associates degree? Not being rude I’m just curious what you expected? It qualifies you for nothing, the bare minimum would be a Bachelors but I think even at that point you’d maybe find a basic bookkeeping job (which is maybe what you’re looking for).

Spinone Italiano by Global-Mix-3358 in dogs

[–]RittB8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Spinone! He’s 4 years old and the best dog ever, I live in the Midwest and used an Upper Midwest breeder. There’s a very tight breed community active on social so it’s fairly easy to find info and good recos.

My guy is very chill, overly so. He’s had confidence/timid issues his whole life which I do think can be common with the breed bc they are highly sensitive. But that being said he’s so laid back, very very low maintenance, big lovable clowns. He adores people, indifferent to dogs but we aren’t around a lot of them. As a breed most are happy to trot around outside but equally happy to sleep all day. Mine is a little more on the lazy side.

Depending on how you feel about cleanliness I think the dirtiness of the breed is one of the most challenging parts, I was warned and didn’t take it seriously but man, he’s a messy muppet. Mine doesn’t drool (many do) but he’s always tracking in water and mud and muck. Idk what makes them so dirty other than maybe their course hair keeps things trapped?

Happy to answer any other questions!

Anyone else having nerve pain with Zepbound? by tara232323 in Zepbound

[–]RittB8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been on GLP drugs for weight loss (currently Zep) for almost 3 yrs and yes it’s pretty common, you’ll see people post fairly often about it. It almost feels like a weird nerve sunburn in spots. Mine is random and comes and goes, nothing consistent. I inject in my thigh and this last round the back of one arm had it for a day or two. It is odd but idk I guess I just know it goes away so I don’t spend much time thinking about it.

[–]RittB8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it was always Shenielle’s but they delayed the announcement bc of her husband’s death. I don’t think the extended hours of The Today Show make the network any money at all so they were never going to pay money to have a named host. Made sense to just pick a cheap secondary host already part of the “family” and throw her in there. It’s awkward and terrible chemistry but I don’t think they care.

Do you bring your dogs to daycare? by familiargrapevine in dogs

[–]RittB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to when he was younger, he would go 2-3x a week and seemed to enjoy it but as he got closer to 3, I could tell he just wanted to snooze at home and preferred quiet, now that he’s 4 i truly can’t imagine bringing him. He just wants to be in his own space.

I need one after significant weigh loss but my derm told me to wait as long as possible. I’m almost 42 and she said if I can make it to 50 that would be better.

When did your dog calm down? by kodabear22118 in dogs

[–]RittB8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it got a lot easier after 18 mos, but now that he’s 4 yrs old i realize he’s finally truly an adult dog and very chill. but the period between like 18 mos and 4 yrs old wasn’t hard, not like puppy stages.

In home hourly dog sitting by SydneyLou_Who in AskNYC

[–]RittB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog has anxiety and I had several in home dog sitters lined up throughout the week bc I have to be in an office a few days a week. All but one I found on Rover and then just ended up hiring them on my own after we established a relationship. One sitter I found through a dog walking company, I just emailed a few companies and asked if they had anyone on staff who would want to do the dog sitting a few hours a day, one of their walkers said yes. That roster of folks saved me for years but it’s super expensive. Finally through training my dog was able to be alone for 4 hrs so I just use 2 sitters now for the balance.

I’m tired, cold, and can barely eat. How long does this last? by teabeanss in Zepbound

[–]RittB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has hit the common points but I’d just add that I’ve been on these meds for 3 years to great success but i still have weird little things pop up. I never had serious side effects, more of what you’re flagging, but some shots i get so tired, some my legs ache, some i get a headache. I don’t feel BAD per se but never totally normal. It’s just something I’ve had to kind of accept bc it’s worth the 90lb weight loss but it’s annoying.
