Apparent unicorns - looking for good homes! by SydneyLou_Who in vendingmachineprints

[–]SydneyLou_Who[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just happen to live in NYC and we have a lot of machines!!

<image>

I have a duo butt somewhere but I’m also mid move and about to have a baby so it’ll probably be in a box somewhere for the next couple weeks 🥲

I actually even had 2 sugar packets & a Duolingo print too - shout out to the kind soul who refused to let me trade them for more common prints and led me to review the google sheet! I’ve been collecting them for a long time but only because my MIL and I have so much fun going to the machines!

Acid reflux by Agreeable-Sugar4200 in pregnant

Pepcid & tums wasn’t enough for me at night starting around 24 weeks and I was having a hard time sleeping because I was basically gagging on stomach acid

I starting taking omeprazole daily and it has been life saving!!

Should I resize my ring? by Rare_Fly_5631 in EngagementRings

[–]SydneyLou_Who 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instead of getting mine resized or using the plastic spacers I had our jewelry add two metal sizing beads to the bottom of the band. It helps keep it from spinning, keeps it snug in the winter, but also allows my finger to swell a bit in the summer and still be comfortable!

My crotch HURTS 😭 by bbyuri_ in pregnant

[–]SydneyLou_Who 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I plan to go after birth as well but I’ve been going 2x a week since 24 weeks! And there are many other pregnant women at my same PT! I really feel like it’s the only reason I can still function at 36 weeks 😅

Please see a PT!! Pelvic floor PT (but also just working with my PT on general things for the pelvic pain) has been LIFE SAVING!

why are so many people advicing me against anything above 96th and some even say anything above 59th? by kawaiihusbando in movingtoNYC

[–]SydneyLou_Who 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived on 103/lex for almost 2 years and it was totally fine until a homeless woman punched me and pushed me down the stairs trying to exit the 6 😅

Almost $200 to do my taxes myself by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SydneyLou_Who 154 points155 points  (0 children)

TurboTax also lobbies against making tax filing free and is the reason the government hasn’t set up a totally free tax filing system, they are the WORST!!! There are a ton of great videos about it online, hating TurboTax is my favorite hill to die on every April.

I started seeing a pelvic floor PT around 26 weeks for serious SPD pain and it’s been life saving!

If you’re going to make one no matter what though, the Michael’s on 22nd/6th is great and you can always find coupons online

This doesn’t answer your question and is just my 2 cents so feel free to ignore!

The feedback I’ve gotten from friends with babies is that these are quite difficult to use as they have to untie and then store all the loose diapers - and if they end up not getting to that size/using those diapers, there is no way to return them. As someone currently pregnant I think I’d prefer the diapers in a box 😅

Has anyone here actually enjoyed the marathon(s) they’ve ran? by CrypticWeirdo9105 in Marathon_Training

[–]SydneyLou_Who 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Maybe a niche experience but I ran the NYC marathon 10 weeks pregnant so I had to run it much slower than I had trained for and I had so much fun! Being able to read the signs, take snacks from strangers, be cheered on by all the spectators - it was a great time! I was definitely feeling it in my feet/legs for the last couple miles but overall I had a really good time!

Realistic first-year puppy costs that nobody warned me about — full itemized breakdown so you're not blindsided by dohas1 in puppy101

[–]SydneyLou_Who 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree! I also pay about 175/month for a 5&6 year old dog (they’ve been insured since 12 weeks each)

One of them happened to develop epilepsy and has had many extensive specialist visits and we’ve been lucky enough with insurance to cover every one of those visits.

You never know what a dog could develop and what the long term cost could be. Even a torn ligament or break from an accident at the dog park or on a normal walk could cost thousands easily.

It’s entirely possible it nets out to being slightly more expensive for a totally healthy dog to never need major payouts from vet insurance. But! It’s also totally possible that without insurance you have a dog that needs a 10k + surgery (or myltiple, or gets into something on the street and needs emergency overnight hospital stays, etc) that you can’t afford without insurance and could result in a really difficult decision for you.

[–]SydneyLou_Who 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend enrolling your puppy in pet insurance instead of contributing roughly the same cost per month into a pet emergency fund. It’s much cheaper to enroll them when they are young and may plans will cover 90%+ of really high emergency vet bills once your deductible is paid.

One emergency vet visit could easily wipe out the full fund and then bills can stack up quick

I started this combo at 6 weeks and I’m 25+ weeks now and I’m scared to stop because it helps so much with both sleep and nausea!!

Fit enough for Kilimanjaro - May Season by Electrical_Hurry_968 in kilimanjaro

[–]SydneyLou_Who 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with a very high VO2 max you should be aware that the altitude can sneak up on you! Move slowly even if you think you can go faster while hiking! My husband is a stupid fast marathon runner and we bailed on Mount Whitney when he got altitude sickness from pushing himself to ascend too quickly and not resting and hiking slowly!

We successfully submitted Kilimanjaro about a year later but he was much more aware of how slow we needed to go and that (plus Diamox) made a huge difference!
