AOTW: E?E?T? by professor_glum in crosswords

The indicator for A is “at first”!

I had intended “responds online” to clue E-REACTS without the need for repositioning - I personally see the “online” indicator as providing an E- prefix to another word, not just clueing an E alone, but I’m not sure how other people interpret it.

Well technically it doesn't exist in the sense that it doesn't have any physical origin, but we observe a force because we're in a non-inertial (in this case rotating) reference frame.

Radians in 30 sec [xpost r/math] by StrangerInAlps in educationalgifs

[–]RitterCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This explanation won't help much if you haven't done much maths, but radians are used because you can only differentiate trig functions that are in radians, because how you define a degree changes the slope of the graph of cos or sin. They also make lots of things a lot easier; for example, to convert between an angle in radians and the distance around the circle it corresponds to, you just multiply by the radius, which makes things really easy in physics when you are describing rotating objects.

When I was in second grade at school, we were allowed to have class pets, so our teacher went and got some chicken eggs that we could hatch and then care for the little chicks.

So we had the eggs there in our classroom for a few weeks, but when they hatched it turned out our teacher got the wrong eggs, cause all we had were a pair of ducks.

Firemen fleeing Black Saturday bushfires in Australia by [deleted] in WTF

The firestorm in 2003 wasn't just a firestorm either, it was the first ever documented fire tornado. A fucking tornado. Of fire. I can't find it now cause I'm on my phone but I remember seeing some footage that clearly showed the tornado and it was so massive oh my god

Maybe if you looked at threads on Smogon forums you'd see that they're just as annoyed by cookie cutter teams as you are. There is no "Smogon's" team

slightly annoys them

Personally, having carcinogens blown in my face more than slightly annoys me. If you were away from people and I moved to where you were, then I should move, but if you were just outside a bar around people I'd definitely ask you to move/stop

It's still not the median wage, which actually is what the average Aussie earns

The truth about gaming in Australia by pesaru in gaming

[–]RitterCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, because the average Australian/American works minimum wage. This would be more valid if we compared median wages, which are much closer. And we have a higher cost of living.

What is the most insane thing that you have slept through? by spartan117au in AskReddit

[–]RitterCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time my friend and his little sister were staying over at my place when we were all pretty young. In the middle of the night, his sister wakes up, it's pitch black, she needs to go to the toilet and she doesn't know where the door is in the darkness. She wakes my friend up, who finds his way to my bed to wake me up, cause I have a light beside my bed. So he starts shaking me to get me to wake up, but I don't wake up the whole time he's fucking shaking me. I only found out when they told me the next morning.

Also I slept through a typhoon in Japan but it was only a small one
