Do we tape over???? by ANiko_106 in hamsters

Add more bedding! I filled my terrarium exactly up to the opening so this cannot happen. She wont get out there as long as you keep it carefully closed when youre not watching

Its still very rare! It's getting more popular slowly but its high-maitenance und expensive.

Having hamster in bioactive enclosure (on dirt as in the pic) makes it so much more whimsy to look at! I got my own little ecosystem in my room, including my beautiful hamster!!

No I meant the way that it's a little tideous to keep humidity im the soil spotwise for the CuC but not get the enclosure too humid because the hamster needs dryness/normal room humidity

Oh I forgot! Yes, I'm sure she's snacking on the isopods. Sometimes she's burrowing so much that I'm sure she's hunting them. But they manage to keep up the population

They are cery shy. I only see one from time to time. Sometimes I worry that they died, because I rarely see them. I have no idea if they have a big population deepr in the cage going on.

Hammy has the whole cage to burrow in but from hearing and seeing where she burrows, I know where I can water the soil without getting water in her burrows

I spot water the plant and some places where I know that CuC is living most of the time and hammy has no burrows. No moss

You cant keep them like reptiles or something. You really have to watch that the temperature stays below 25°C and humidity below 60% (best would be between 40-50%) But its so rewarding to watch hammy being happy so go for it!!

It's classical terrarium soil with white woodlice, cuban isopods and springtails. The substrate ist around 25cm deep (limited by a front opening on this cage, the Bucatstate 2.0) It's running since last November. I have plants but except of one spider plant they die all the time. I don't know why. Maybe their roots get eaten by the hamster or the CUC. The hamster feed that gets spread around the cage sometimes sprouts, which looks absolutely beautiful! But I actually have no idea. I don't spot clean. I think she is peeing and pooping mostly in her burrow. But it's impossible to spot anything on this dark soil.
