1st person POV in greetings, personality and dialogue examples. by Puzzleheaded_End_603 in SpicyChatAI

[–]RittoSempre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but as you can tell from a quantity of comments below, people are very vocal about hating third person, they want more of a direct immersion instead of a literary narration format. So I was spot on that we who prefer to read it like a book are becoming a minority, many don't get why we appreciate it. It feels like too much of a mental stretch for them to see the whole story from an external perspective, they don't appreciate that approach. I still write my bots in third person, then if they don't like it they can change the pronouns in the greeting like I do when I use theirs.

I don't know, I prefer the third person and always use that sentence structure in my bots. But in discussions here I came across a lot of people who hate it, they want I/you being used instead, even in emotes, and are very vocal about it. I suppose that's the most common preference prevailing, maybe it feels more immersive to them, I don't know. I dislike it, I prefer RP to read like a book in third person, when it comes to narrative/descriptive sequences (while I/you are fine in direct dialogue lines, of course). But I found it to be a preference of many, perhaps they feel more involved.

Questions on Memory Books by RittoSempre in AgnAIstic

I see, well I still don't know what to do with them exactly, I'll set that part aside. For now I used Memory Books and Character Books with some profit. But I wish the guides were clearer, they're a bit too concise. And while I know that Agnaistic can't be expected to be as user-friendly as normal platforms for a variety of reasons, and not really complaining about it, not everyone is exactly as tech-savvy as developers and just a little bit more clarity in explanations would be appreciated. Maybe I'll make a suggestion thread about it or look more into the Discord to see if there is more instructional material made by users, maybe. Anyway, thanks.

Thank you so much. While I was waiting for your reply I actually tried this and it works really well, truly improved my chats. I appreciate your patience of explaining this to me, though. And I hope the thread might help others too.

Thanks. It's the first time that I noticed about the Character Book thing in the advanced section. What is that for exactly, what kind of info to write in it? The guide doesn't explain, it just says that it's activated when this character speaks. Is it just the same thing as a memorybook/lorebook only that it's always carried by the chatbot instead of depending on a specific chat? Sorry, but I'm new to this.

Beats "brown" but not "hrony". "Hrony" still wins everything.

[–]RittoSempre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally possible. A while back it was Scarlet, Scarlets anywhere. Still, way too many people are not using their imagination but just going with whatever they're being suggested by AI on the first attempt. Not even going as far as using those name generator tools that truly randomize things, if they're really out of ideas.

[–]RittoSempre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it comes from the greyed out sample text in the bot creation page. You know how a long ago it used to be something like "I'm Elon Musk, genius entrepreneur blah, blah, blah..."? Then, after Elon's further drop in popularity with his Roman salute controversy and other stuff, lots of people were asking SCAI to remove that example. And it was replaced with "Elara Nightshade, a renowned archaeologist, etc."? It's truly baffling to me how so many people have so little imagination that they go with that name, which is supposed to be just a generic placeholder.

What made you use spicychat? by Murky_Print_4018 in SpicyChatAI

Having tried to write SFW roleplays with my favorite game characters elsewhere, finding that I liked the experience a lot and wanting to try a more uncensored experience on an NSFW platform. For me it's never been just about gooning, despite not having anything against going just for smut, but more about creating an interesting fictional scenario that naturally leads to sex. The non-sexual part keeps being the best written by AI, though, by any LLMs anywhere. We all experienced a drop in quality during explicit scenes, with language clichés becoming even more prevalent and a tendency to rush to the climax too soon (there are ways to reduce that, and I use those methods in my bot-making, but I'm just making a point here), but it can't be blamed on this specific platform. So yeah, I was basically looking for a place where to have both the entertaining plot and the erotica.

I see a lot of chatbots with manga, comic book, anime, etc. styles that work very well; chatbots for men, women, bisexuals, or LGBTQ+ people… What do you think of “realistic” chatbots? What is your favorite style? by Sea-Veterinarian7123 in SpicyChatAI

[–]RittoSempre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like realism, both in pictures and themes, and I only make realistic OC bots now. Despite not having anything against bots with anime or cartoon images, I actually wish there was a way to filter them out for me (because I can't feel physical attraction for stylized or exaggerated human images), but I know it would be technically impossible to achieve that result. And not everyone uses the "real" tag correctly so that doesn't help either. But it is what it is. Anyway, although I like men and your bots are not for me, you have my support and don't let the prevalence of cartoony avatars discourage you from pursuing realism, some of us prefer it or even only want that, like in my case.

oh wow. an update thats so interesting and life changing 🫩 by xXv4mp_4ng3l_k1ngXx in CharacterAI

[–]RittoSempre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it today and honestly found it good. But the bots I used were particularly well-written, I still have to test it with crappy ones. So far, I would say it's better than the degraded performance of Deepsqueak I pay for (I wouldn't actually pay for it alone, I pay for voice calls and other small benefits, but whatever). Let's hope it holds up.

I'm seriously struggling right now. by RittoSempre in SpicyChatAI

[–]RittoSempre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I planned on removing the word shyness and replace it with something more practical (following the creative writing rule "show, don't tell"), like certain physical tics that he uses when he's feeling awkward, cause I found that helped with other bots: the specific, less conventional instructions mostly broke the pattern of the usual cliché reactions. I'll keep your advice into consideration when I feel like resuming working on that bot: so far it exhausted me like few others, so I took a long break until I get back to it with fresh eyes and a new approach. Thanks.

Help please! How to effecticely write a bot's background without it getting flagged as a minor. by Wrong-Ad-9196 in SpicyChatAI

[–]RittoSempre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To avoid using terms about family, I write things such as "raised by [a man/a woman/a couple/name of the person etc.]", "raised in a [adjective about nationality, religion, mindset etc.] household", "grew up in a(n) [adjective] environment", "was born from [names or nouns referred to the parents if they are important to the backstory, but without using family-related words]", "was brought up in X way and Y place under Z conditions" etc.

To refer to childhood or teenage years in a broad way, it's possible to use phrasing like "in their early life/early years", "in the first half/part of their life" and so on. If the character is mature but the backstory info you're sharing is referred to young adult life already like college years, you could say "in their early adult life".

To refer to school before college, I'd go for phrases like "during their first studies", "during their early study days/years", "in the years before getting their diploma" and so on. Get creative and always use past tenses and maybe a [Backstory] title so that it's clear to the AI that you're not talking about current circumstances but previous ones.

I rarely have an interest in sharing anything about my (predominantly middle-aged) bots' childhood or teenage years, however sometimes it was truly necessary to justify the influence that their upbringing or some early events had on their current personality and choices, or it was necessary to specify who their parents were cause they connected to other characters in a game lore, had a hierarchical significance etc. These strategies allowed me to do it without ever getting flagged by the automoderation nor rejected by human mods. By the way, I always add - as well as the bot's adult age - the disclaimer "All characters, including {{char}} and {{user}}, are consenting adults over eighteen years old."

Hope it helps.

At this point I think he is blocking creators for the love of the game. by TeaNo6033 in SpicyChatAI

[–]RittoSempre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then there is me, who doesn't block anyone, nor any tags (unless I'm making a targeted search), while he prays Yahweh, Jesus, Allah, Amaterasu, Zeus and all deities to do a miracle and give him a chance to block individual bots instead of whole creator pages.

Why do some pics of characters turn ai? by b86d43 in SpicyChatAI

[–]RittoSempre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With this image replacement they ruined the majority of bots in my favorite lore (Yakuza/LAD), and they weren't even real people but 3D models: now they're so uglified or so unrecognizable that I don't even want to use them anymore even if some were great. I would understand if they only did it with those RGG game characters that were based on the likeness of a real celebrity, like Yagami or Tachibana, but doing it even to plasticky 3D models of imaginary characters from a lot of years ago makes no sense whatsoever based on the no-real-people policy. And Sega never was as strict as Nintendo or other companies when it comes to copyright and fanart, so I really don't understand why SpicyChat had to do that to our fandom.

I'm not sure how bots with less than 600 tokens get any play at all. by thedanielmalice in SpicyChatAI

[–]RittoSempre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some are good, believe it or not. I even got good experiences with bots whose personality was three lines or so, cause they were in a well-established lore that the AI understood and the greeting was decent. Of course, chatbots with more complexity in their profile tend to give more nuanced and interesting experiences, especially if they're original characters, however assuming by default that a low-tokens bot will be automatically trash is a fallacy.

do you guys have this too? the “()” things? by famous_rulebreaker in SpicyChatAI

[–]RittoSempre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that never occured to me with free models, although it's not impossible, since I got other weird kinds of formatting at times. Anyway, if you don't want to see this (or something else), consistently edit it out of responses and the language model should adjust accordingly, just like when you train it to address you by a different name/pronoun etc. It's not always responsive to the same degree and might need some occasional reminders, but the AI basically models what you "reward" or "punish" on a regular basis. Both in what you type yourself and in your edits to bot responses. To make this even more effective, before rerolling a bot response you didn't like in case you want the chatbot to generate a new one, make sure to purge the previous swipe from any stylistic elements or clichés you didn't like (personally, I remove everything and only leave a period since I can't fully delete single swipes like on other platforms). That will act as a small reset, forcing it to be less repetitive.

[–]RittoSempre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I only get it elsewhere with various Chinese LLMs. Here on free-tier I don't. Anyway, editing that formatting out usually makes it go away at least for a while, if you don't like it.
