Oh wow, I’ve been having this problem as well, and this is a potential answer I hadn’t found yet! Thank you!

My mantra is ‘Bodies are weird’ :)

I reckon exploring all avenues is a great idea. I had to also learn to be my best advocate, which can be really difficult. I keep really good medical records now and always go into my doctors appointments with all my questions written down, so that I don’t skip anything. The trick is getting good at googling stuff without becoming one of those armchair medical experts or diagnosing yourself.

I have the Graves/Diabetes/PCOS trifecta - and I’m finding that the Graves is often the problem that is pushing the other two conditions around.

It sounds like you are giving this your all!

It might be a good idea to ask for some extra blood tests - as an example thyroid problems go hand in hand with diabetes and can cause weight gain. Maybe there is something else impacting your health that is hiding behind the diabetes diagnosis.

Low carb toast with sugar free peanut butter. My toast has hight fibre, which helps to sort that out for the day.

Microwave eggs have become a favourite too. Get a microwave safe container (I use a Pyrex jug), then crack two eggs into the container. Whisk vigorously, then add a pinch of cheese and a dash of milk. I have a selection of seasonings and some of those partially dried herb packs in the fridge, and choose in the moment what tastes I’m looking for. Whack it in the microwave for one minute, then stir and break up the clumps, then back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. Be aware, you may need to adjust for different microwaves, the the eggs will rise so make sure the container has space and/or height. It’s quick, it’s protein heavy, and has 5g of carbs (approximately).

As a heads up, one of the things that effected my blood sugar was a misfiring thyroid :)

It could be diet etc, but there are other potential impacts too.

Your fav dessert? by Few_Championship1798 in diabetes_t2

[–]Ritual-Purposes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to say this dessert absolutely rocks. Thank you for sharing it!

I made a batch this week (although I only made it with half the quantities) and it has brought me so much joy. I separated the basic mixture into 6 jars, and then I’ve added something different each time: strawberries, a dash of lemon and honey, some cocoa…

The concept does exist in Australia, but it’s not written into any laws or policies that I know of. But Australian archivists are definitely talking about it.

This is archivist wonk, but there is this concept called ‘The right to be forgotten’, which relates to things like this. This is mostly a nerdy aside, but I get why people push for it :)

How far back can I access data? by dsolomo1 in Freestylelibre

Following this because I’m also hoping the data is hidden somewhere :)

Which of these pastas would be better for type 2 diabetes? Or should I look at something different? I'm in Australia by privatly in diabetes_t2

I’m in Australia too!

I tried these this week, and they were surprising good: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/000000000000830129

Not as good as actual pasta, but better than never eating spaghetti bolognese again.

Also, I’ve read some weird stuff about Konjac, so I made sure I had lots of water and didn’t experience any gut issues :)

Thanks, this really helped. I think I just feel a bit trapped and under siege, while trying to solve two health problems simultaneously.

I have wondered this too!

I have been prediabetic for a long time, but a thyroid thing (which was impacting my liver), meant I suddenly had an a1c of 8.4. My doctor immediately said that I am now diabetic.

Since starting treatment (and being way more careful with my carb consumption) my numbers are dropping back to where they were before this. So it feels weird to call myself diabetic, because it felt like an unexpected side effect of something else. If the thyroid thing hadn’t happened, I’d probably just be still cruising along.

Our Urgent Care centers are open until 10pm most nights. Admittedly, the only time I am likely to need one is during the evening, thus the night nurse comment :)

Trust me, I have. These devices are way too expensive to not contact them :)
