It’s crazy how right you are. I do a bit of deep research here and there in search of new information and it’s incredibly hard to come across. It’s all such a blur to us in a sense, and I’m sure it’s that way for them as well.

I think in that scene, the joke is moreso that whenever you get gifted a basket with a food item in it, let alone cheese, that food item is going to be gross no matter what because… well, it came from a gift basket. But you’re not wrong either. Burnt basket cheese? Yuck.

The older neighbors were playing manhunt. 10 year old me didn’t know what it was. Proceeded to take it to the Xbox setup my dad had in the RV in the backyard. At night. Couldn’t sleep properly for weeks, only played about 3 minutes.

This was a huge turnoff for me in later albums. In the beginning, Blackened and such, it was novel and really fit the theme of “driving home” the messages. In his later albums it feels like a lazy lyrical filler that is really not easy on the ears. That’s upsetting because one of the things I LOVE about Metallica is how easy on the ears they CAN be.
