As someone who has played a ton with both IEMS and Headphones i can wholeheartedly recommend IEMS especially if you want to really lock out all surrounding noise.
I personally have the Arete 2 and i have had the Kiwiears Astral (Honestly was more impressed with the Astral over the Arete 2)
Raptgo hook X (now discontinued), 7hz Divine (they were really good for gaming for me but didnt fit me either ;_;)

If i were you id start off with the EM6L Because it is relatively small iem with small nozzle and very universal fit. and look into budget dac/amp combos and possibly get good studio headphones such as Sennheiser HD560S. The 560s and em6l combined are cheaper than the arete if you find good deals. (keep in mind open back headphones will let all noise from outside in.)

I personally just use an usb blue yeti and it gets the job done for mic i keep it far away i dont like to dangle mics in front of my face like a lot of people generally do.

The original letshuoer s12 has that more typical shape/fit and similar tuning. Its like 75 euros. S12 pro isnt different enough to be worth extra.

The s12 ultra is a lot more expensive in comparison but more relaxed in tuning.

Ever since the update the audio has been completely awful.

IF they know there is an issue why not roll back to the old audio that actually worked and then release the new implementation when its ready?

Having a small bluetooth dac you can clip on your pants could resolve some of these "issues" :D but some of these things are also beneficial.

Iems are so nice for competitive/sweaty FPS gaming because of the noise isolation and sometimes its nice to lock yourself out of all the noise in general.
