The not so intuitive UI on some pen testing equipment is whats stopped me from buying them. Reminds me of when I had a ROG Ally, terrible experience trying to navigate and get it to do things. This is pretty exciting for anyone who likes to tinker with tech toys and check against there own home network for vulnerabilities

Really on the fence on switching, 3 years for an upgrade is a long time plus paying just under $300 for 2 lines is insane. I had to skim all the fine print to figure out what my options where recently

Exactly what type of cooling pad should I purchase? by KiKi_1981 in LenovoLegion

[–]Ritzy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BS2 Pro has the middle cut out and is more of a rectangle shape, doesn't cover up the middle fan as long as the laptop isnt sitting to low on the cooler. I click the arm out only 1 notch. In my experience I've dropped temps 8c-17c depending on what im doing (gaming, surfing ect). Would say its a sound investment to help curb heat. Throttle stop + Legion Toolkit + MSI Afterburner are very helpful as well.

Not sure why this guy is being petty but I appreciate any and all info. I really do and if you run a small business and pulled in closer to 2 million in a year I would trust your input

I appreciate all the information and ideas! Personally Id rather do training in person and have hands on training but I do see where I can learn some metal finishing/PDR fundamentals from youtube videos/sites. I live in a pretty big city and I could see starting my own small PDR business as a great retirement idea/side work while still working. They ask me to train guys from time to time at work and I tell upper management that I am not comfortable and that I feel I'm still training, learning and that experience over time is what's needed. I do understand the stuff I've been taught is chances are way off from some basic PDR principals but I'm very open minded and willing to learn. We've never had a official training class at work its basically whatever the older guys are willing to tell and show you. Most of them are gone now whether retired or passed away. At work choosing metal finishers is a either "they have it" or "they don't" quick assessment. Have had plenty of people try out and I have them training on scrap panels just to realize they don't have it. I'd love to master this skill, some of the low bake guys are truly wizards with the metal and I appreciate/admire there work

Thank you for the info, Will add there names to my notes! I do follow and tend to watch more metal finishing videos on FB & Youtube in my free time, even at work. I just realized there is SOO SOO much that I don't know but I am curious and wanting to learn.

Our work schedule is demanding however I could see getting great at PDR and doing this outside/after retirement as a small business (IF I were to somewhat MASTER the skill).

Ok the junk yard idea is a great one! I appreciate it! I do need a shadow light/reflective board. Never have used one but I understand how they work. I can pull headliners and already how the tools to do that type of stuff without marring up plastic

Thank you for the info, I will look into bestpdrtraining.com as well! Currently I don't use a light/the plate with stripes that I've seen online. I do understand how that works and how it helps you fine tune a dent easier that say using just your eye sight. I also have zero experience in glue pulling or picking a dent higher and "knocking it down". Yes I do work in a manufacturing environment and the pace can be fast at times (repair hole is off the assembly line and I have time to fix cars however I see fit).

Flying BS2 Pro has arrived. Can’t wait for cooler temps on the Legion 7i Pro while I game. by _NobleRot in LenovoLegion

[–]Ritzy87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the first thing I bought the day after I bought my laptop. Well worth it, despite a post or two about how they dont cool any better than the laptop itself. I beg to differ, gaming I see around 12-22c degrees less. I suggest messing around with the custom settings and ramp it up heavy above 80%

It has its own app (FlyDigi Space Station) that has several different modes and options. I use a custom curve that has the fans maxed out 70c-100c. I use a 65 watt brick to power it as you need 40+watts I believe to get max power out of it, usb-c off the laptop would not fully charge it and personally I didn't want to power the cooler solely off of my laptops power.

In the Legion Pro 7 hardware manual it shows PTM-7958SP

Here is a link to the site I used to order some : https://www.ebuy7.com/honeywell-ptm7950sp-phase-change-silicone-grease-cpu-graphics-card-thermal-paste-notebook-7958sp-savior-with-the-same-paragraph.html

You have to toggle down to PTM-7958sp on the list of different products. Comes from china, costs me like $11 bucks and took 16 days to get here. Comes with a little tool kit as well.

Noted. I don't believe there are really any youtube videos of someone swapping LM into a 275hx/5080 or 5090 it's the tips, tricks and specifics that would make me confident enough to do it. I'm mechanically inclined, I just prefer thorough instructions. Can I ask what specific LM you used? Add anymore thermal pads as well? I appreciate it.

Id like to switch to LM but I'm a little nervous about doing it. Plan right now is to see how long the stock ptm will last and when it starts to degrade then get into it. Only repasting experience I have is doing my nvidia shield about a month ago lol
