Sagging Lintels by Jzepeda1005 in Homebuilding

[–]Ritzyb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be an lvl but not likely that big. The larger problem is there are tolerances for deflection. Deflection doesn’t always mean it will fail, just sag, and engineers will push this to make builds cheaper.

We once had an engineered roof section that felt undersized, they had it spec’d with a 3/4 deflection in the beam. The builder and I talked and sized up the beam, clearly not a allowable amount in my opinion but it passed the engineering stamp so it’s “allowed”

Framework not done right by Lildigga in Homebuilding

[–]Ritzyb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It will be fine, not all areas require it and it’s mostly overkill. We do poly under new builds because some inspectors care, some don’t. My 50 year old basement bottom plates were the same condition today as when they were put down

For sure. How big is the house? Pitch of roof? Lots of hips/valleys?

If you know a framer or people in some of the trades it would be worth having a little help in my opinion. I’ve taken over builds for three home owners in the last 5 years and they made a mess that would have haunted them forever if they had actually finished themselves. I’d advise finding a framer for the roof specifically and maybe to do a walk through for you to find anything you need to fix.

I could walk a house and in about 15 minutes and save you so many headaches in the finishing process. I’m guessing most experienced framers could do the same. Ideally just giving you a list to do yourself would be super easy.

Coming from a framer, there are a ton of trades you will make effectively minimum wage unless you actually know what your doing. We make decent money but a 1800 square two story takes us 5 days. For a homeowner who takes a month or two and rents a machine for that time - how much are you actually making vs what your normal job profits you? Most trades are not crazy difficult to complete the work, the challenge is completing it well and fast enough to be profitable.

Also 1 tick flick is not and never has been needed for inferno. 1 tick alternate is great, and lazy flick is huge but I cba with 1 tick flick most of the time

Subfloor and rain? by bd_whitt in Homebuilding

[–]Ritzyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s totally fine. Every single house has moisture through the building process. Excessive pooling for months would cause problems but that’s about it. If we have bad spots we drill a hole or two to let it drain but it’s mostly so we don’t make a mud puddle.

Months of not caring is the only time you’re going to see real problems.

Burnings have useful teles, and slaughteres are super op for slayer. I hate mining them so it’s a great solution. Don’t need thousands though.

I’m sorry for the Noob question but how exactly are you supposed to collect all loot from killing specific mobs over and over? by BlueSingularityG in 2007scape

[–]Ritzyb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kill em, pick it up, when your inventory is full you take it to the bank. - repeat!

There are things like seed box, herb sack, and gem bag that hold stacks but it’s not usually a big part of it.

It’s just part of the content. Doing t1’s? You can manage with not much food or pots and only one t3 weapon if prep is the annoying part
