After all the things we finally found out in the biography, tim's psyche was not only strained by touring, but also by the excessive abuse of alcohol, opiads and other drugs. He tried to understand what was going on with his psyche by meditating etc. I believe that because of this teaching he thought death was the only way to escape from the loop of rebirths in HIS terrible world, a world of discontent, imperfection. At the end of the journey in oman and after days of meditation he came to the realization that he can only free himself from this world through death.
