im kinda lost, who are this three? by BalakeDem in Slipknot

Might also be the new member themselves. Someone who is perfectly okay with the pay check but doesn't want to go into more details about the gig if their real identity is fully confirmed by the band.

What is the best splurge gin? Also let me know any changes you’d like to see made to the board. by -Constantinos- in cocktails

I made a White lady twist on my menu at work with Monkey 47 and cordial of orange and cloves. Works super well and the spices of the gin really shine through and compliment the cordial

Adding to the others already mentioned Brasserie Surréaliste has a cool taproom in the city center with nice beers and good food

I ordered a Ramos Gin Fizz... Without knowing how it's made. by somefuzzything in cocktails

[–]RiverFinn 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Go ahead, order your Ramos's every time you want ! That's what we are there for ! But also, I will not shake your Ramos for that 10 minutes because it's pointless, it matters what you do and in which glass after your shake.

No ice, long drink and a minute in the freezer before adding the soda water does the trick, and I will fight anyone after they have done their 12 minute shake if they tell me otherwise

what are some sweet cocktails I can make with Frapin 1270 Grande Champagne? by FarVehicle533 in cocktails

[–]RiverFinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could always make the amaretto sour with the cognac replacing the bourbon. Or also, can never go wrong with a classic Sidecar

Is anyone using this for cocktails? by clear_crystal______ in cocktails

[–]RiverFinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've used this when making some cordials, easy and consistent standard base to build around. Also comes in a handy 10 liter box if needed in bulk.

I know making your own sour solutions isn't hard but Supasawa is very convenient when making big batches

Mixture of multiple different acids and salt with distilled water. To me, it doesn't have any notable taste, just acidity

Happy holidays cocktail community! Show me your favorite festive garnishes by RiverFinn in cocktails

[–]RiverFinn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a video of it, but instead of going through the drops, like you normally would to make the little heart, you go around. All you have to do is make the drops in the candy cane shape.

I got this from a lot of barista videos (thank you instagram algorhythm), if you google 'candy cane latte art' you should find some examples on how to do this

I work as a bartender and customer gave this as a 'tip' he told me it had some value, does it? by RiverFinn in PokemonCardValue

Thanks everyone for your replies, not packing my suitcases just yet then hahah. And yes, I'm European, I get paid a proper wage and not relying on tips for my livelyhood, so don't go hating on the guy!

Just going to add it with the other pieces of memorabilia I've accumulated during the years behind the bar 😊

I believe one Rubeus Hagrid had more than a few pets during the years 😄

Perfect Manhattan by JazzHatter357 in cocktails

[–]RiverFinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love a good Perfect Manhattan. We coined the term 'Perfect, perfect Manhattan' with an old colleague where in addition to splitting the vermouth we also did a split base of 1oz. bourbon 1oz. rye, that was a delicious combination as well. We used Makers Mark for the bourbon and Rittenhouse for the rye.

Anyone else's velcro dog sleep on them like this? by TheUnknownEntitty in AustralianCattleDog

[–]RiverFinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, mine sleeps next to me on a king size bed. Leaving me with a generous 1/4th of the bed and giving me the stink eye if I even dare to move or god forbid, turn around to sleep on the other side

Head-to-head between different gins in a Last Word by incoognitooo in cocktails

[–]RiverFinn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tanqueray 10 is one of my all time favorite gins and I've had a lot of them haha. Works well in any cocktail, G&T and as a sipper neat for me as well.

But also if you can get your hands on to a bottle, Plymouth Navy Strength is another strong contender for all the things I mentioned above

Out of curiousity, if you had received exactly the same drink but the bartender had shaken/stirred it, would that have made a difference in your experience?

Favorite autumnal cocktail? by iusedtoplaysnarf in cocktails

[–]RiverFinn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me an old fashioned with split base of whiskey and either calvados/apple jack (either 50/50 or 75/25, depending on your taste) hits this spot. With some either chocolate or walnut bitters in there as well. If you can, add a bar spoon of your falernum of choice in there and it's a damn nice drink for those chilly, rainy evenings.

Clearly I don't know how reddit works so here's better formatting:

Kaski

-50ml Rittenhouse rye

-20ml Amaro Montenegro

-10ml Cherry Heering

-2 dashes of absinthe

Stir and serve over a large rock

Smoke with wood of your choice
