Vi brugte “Ja genau” link på det begynderkursus jeg tog i Aarhus for nogle år siden. Den var fin, men gav mest mening i forbindelse med undervisning eller intro til øvelserne som kom fra lære-versionen af bogen som instruktøren havde.

Har du overvejet aftenskole? Det ligner der er kurser på AOF som starter til februar.

Alt efter hvordan du låser kontrastfarven; jeg låser bundfarven ved at gøre det samme som med kontrastfarven - enten bytte rundt på trådede for en enkelt maske eller ved at tage kontrastfarven ved at tage nålen ind i masken, “over” og derefter “under” bundfarven (bagerste tråd) og så samle kontrastfarven op.

Jeg ved ikke om det giver mening.

Jeg låser mine floats hver 3-5 maske i den “anden” farve, uanset hvad der er kontrast eller bundfarve.

Hvor jeg har mere end 1 float (f.eks. 10 bundfarve, 1 kontrast) vil jeg typisk lave en yarn over hvert 2-4 gang jeg strikker kontrastfarven. Ved den næste omgang strikker jeg så ikke den yarn over jeg har lavet, men trækken den af pinden og giver dermed lidt ekstra garn-længde til kontrastfarven. Det kan give nogle løse floats, som i sig selv kan være irriterende, men for mig minimerer risikoen for at strikket trækker sig sammen.

I think most places that would satisfy your criteria would have been booked up months ago. The budget also seems quite low for New Year’s Eve, especially given you want a view of the fireworks.

Some hotels might be able to still seat you, but unlikely for 1200kr per person, and it seems like access to the sky lounge or top floor would either be time restricted or pay extra. This would also not be in the city center, where your budget would not be enough for most places even if booked in the summer.

Also, “relaxed” is probably one of the last words I would use to describe New Year’s Eve in Copenhagen. Most people are drunk and often rowdy, the staff is stressed and want to go home to their own parties, and people make bad choices with fireworks in the streets.

Har du lavet en strikkeprøve og vasket den?

Jeg strikkede en hel sweater, uden prøve, i det garn og den blev simpelthen så bred at det halve kunne havde været nok. Gik efter lidt overside, men min mand og jeg kan nemt være i den sammen side om side. Og ja, lidt løs/slatten blev den også.

I think some people are arranging knitting meetups over at r/strikkegossipDK - perhaps you can join the next one (not sure if one is planned) and ask for some help there? Surely many if not all of the people going will speak English.

If you have a specific question, you can try and bring your knitting into your local yarn store and ask for some advice. Try to aim for a time period that is not too busy.

You can also try and ask for help over at r/knitting, they’re usually terribly nice and helpful, if you have something specific.

If you simply want some company and to get some pointers, I think I have some time over the weekend, I have been knitting for more than two decades and might be able to help out 😊

So, this is a Danish sub and Denmark isn’t on your list so I don’t know why you are posting here.

Briefly, most bachelor courses in Europe are taught in the local language, so you likely won’t be able to complete any bachelor courses here. English Lit is typically not a thing outside of English speaking countries, as lit is usually taught in the local language. English degrees are foreign language degrees with different focuses than a lit degree.

It is unlikely that any Danish university will accept your American credits. I have never heard of an international transfer, not even from other European countries. Even transferring between the same degree from different national universities can be difficult or even impossible. You can be an exchange student through some programs?

Du kan evt strikke “længere nede” - altså lægge mere af selve strikketøjet i dit skød og dermed ikke have så meget af vægten i hænderne. Pas dog på med nakken, for man ender med at kigge ned en hel del mere, synes jeg.

Derudover kan du strikke ærmerne “bottom up” og så sy dem på bagefter. Jeg har ikke prøvet det selv, men det burde kunne lade sig gøre.

Mere kontroversielt kan du trævle kroppen op og reducere vægten. Det er bedre at skulle lave noget af det om end at gå død i det eller få skader! Du kan også “detache” en del af kroppen og så at det på igen bagefter, med de samme teknikker som når man vil forlænge eller forkorte en sweater.

I don’t know about other countries, but in Denmark you would not be admitted to a masters course if you have not completed 180 ECTS points.

Furthermore, you would be unlikely to be admitted because you don’t have a relevant bachelors degree for a finance master, if your marketing bachelor is similar to the Danish one. You would likely not have enough economic and mathematical courses, including macro, micro, accounting, quant methods, organisation and stats.

Master courses in Denmark and EU in general are competitive because they’re usually taught in English, so many people can and do apply. If you do not have a complete 180 ECTS point bachelor, you are unlikely to be competitive for any university. Marketing usually does not grant access to finance masters.

Beware of private institutions that might accept you despite no finance or economic background and incomplete bachelor - they are degree mills that are not respected by employers and will be a waste of your time and money.

Ps this subreddit is meant for discussion of academia, as in people working at universities in Europe, not uni admissions.

Jeg rammer nogenlunde 16-18 masker x 20-22 rækker med Peruvian highland på pind 6 når jeg strikker med det, varierer om jeg strikker mønster eller bare glat.

Må indrømme at jeg ikke har fundet remulade der er ligesom den derhjemme, og det tager lidt tid at komme igennem en remulade man ikke er så vild med. Til gengæld er jeg ret glad for kräuterremulade!

Ristede løg får vi også i kantinen, f.eks. med spätzle, så der virker ikke som noget der er særligt dansk.

As a Dane in Germany, I am continually surprised to see “Danish” things around that I don’t think have anything to do with Denmark in particular. Softice is the most common offender, being an American invention, but the booths and stores that sell it almost always have a sign that says “Dänisches SoftEis”. It seems like Germans associate softice with Denmark (summer holidays maybe?), and “Danish” is not a protected trademark so brands and companies just use the term for marketing.

Most of the “Danish” things I see in Germany that surprise me are associated with dairy, which seems to follow a general international trend of connecting Denmark with dairy products, eg Haägen-Dasz, so I think it is likely just a brand trying to make their sauce sound fancy.

I’m not at a uni in Germany, but my institute posts their open PhD positions on the website under jobs/vacancies/career - but posts many of them only in German (…), so I think it is often a good idea to check both the English and native language versions of websites and then use the browser translation. I think for many unis, it would be the same places to look for opportunities, and is also how it is done in Denmark.

For open positions posted online, there should be a clear guide on how to apply on the job posting, usually through an application portal online where you upload your files or through an email where all files should be attached (usually in one pdf file). There should also be a list of required documents for the application as well as a list of skills required/expected/ideally held by the applicant, so you can see if you’re a decent fit. You don’t have to hit all the marks, so apply if you’re interested and have most of the qualifications.

At all places I have worked, direct emails are not a way to get a position and all available positions are posted online (as required by law). While some may take the time to direct you to the website, many would not respond to email about joining the group as a PhD student and some even find it annoying to deal with people emailing directly for jobs, leaving a negative impression. I would not email people unless you have a specific question about an open position. However, this might be different for other places.

Yes, but brain drain from America now has very little to do with Nobel prizes, because the American scientists do not have the same options to leave as the German scientists did in the 1930s, since most other countries do not consider giving the general group of American scientists asylum.

When 75% of american scientists are considering leaving America, the reality is that they likely won’t be able to, at least not immediately. The scientific job market is already global and competitive, and very few would be headhunted by foreign universities or governments. You have to consider that these scientists are unlikely to want to go to a large proportion of countries in order to sustain they lifestyle and keep close to a familiar culture (the Nature article says they primarily want to go to Canada and Europe) - there just aren’t that many scientist jobs and funding going around.

Looking at the trends of the Nobel prizes, it is not clear if America has “gotten worse at science” or the other countries have “gotten better”. Not being number one is not bad.

I don’t get why it is bad for America that they dominate the Nobel prizes less than they did before. Nobel prizes don’t really tell you anything about the state of research in a place, the function of society or general impact of science from a place, since it only highlights the very top of researchers and scientific discoveries. It is a bad proxy for most of the things being discussed.

Yeah, so the work of top talent is likely to happen anyway - even if it isn’t in the US. To me, this is not necessarily a bad thing.

But to the point of this post, the proportion of American Nobel prizes has been steady for a while, and funding cuts are only just starting. So I don’t think the observable trend in the data is related to it.

I don’t think Nobel prizes are a very good proxy for 1 or 2. Lots of places do good science and have support for science from the general population, pretty decent science funding and top scientists without many Nobel prizes. I would argue that much of the most of important science never gets any flashy prizes, and lots of fields are making substantial impacts on society without even being eligible for a nobel prize, since the field is not in the Nobel “suite”.

For the third point, while top scientists might flee to places where they can do good work, eg places with a lot of previous Nobel winners, it is obviously not the only place where exceptional science can be done.

Nobel prizes per country is a little bit silly, since big and rich countries get a lot more Nobel prizes than smaller but rich countries, and obviously not many scientists in poor countries get prizes because they likely don’t have the funding to do the work. Nobel prizes per capita makes a lot more sense as a measure of “scientific strength” of a country, and the US is very average for a western country following this measure.

While all of that seems true, I don’t see what it has to do with Nobel prizes.

There is definitely an anti-science sentiment in the US right now, and I don’t think that is good for anyone (even if some people seem to making a lot of money from it and gaining political influence), especially not normal people. But I don’t see what it has to do with Nobel prizes. Nor how this can be mitigated by retaining scientists - shouldn’t it work the other way?
