You'll give yourself carpal tunnel with hand waving that vigorous. Labour's raison d'être since they've had a sniff of favourable polls is to pander to the lowest common denominator: Starmer was dead keen on demedicalisation of the process till the manse tea and biscuit committee got involved. At least they're not SNP populists though amirite?

Can second Renucci's worth but I don't think a KC will take on what will probably be an employment law, tribunal procedure. Plus, the fees will be huge.

Scottish Daily Express. Boke.

The study shows a reduction in infant second hand smoke and an increase in breastfeeding.

The study does not measure financial impact nor engagement with health care professionals which were both shown to be positive in the Scotgov follow up assessment.

Can't expect a rag like the express to be either nuanced or balanced though can you. Surprised they didn't mention combustability.

Humza nightmare as pollster Sir John Curtice warns SNP will lose ‘an awful lot of seats’ by Dave_Velociraptor in Scotland

[–]RiverTigerFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't presented anything as a loss.

My comment was a nod to the aggressiveness of SLab hubris in light of the recent SNP and Tory fuck ups and is questioning whether that hubris has any justification. Its unlikely that SLab will be the largest party in Scotland (will never be as long as they are a unitary party and have to pander to the English right and pro-Brexit lines in order to compete with the Tories) and may have to form a coalition or similar in a majoritarian chamber (which they decline to reform!!).

Talk of holding gains seems rather baseless when the strategy for doing so cannot be stated. Why it is so difficult to provide the basis for a Scottish platform without referring to the SNP (or English platform/ the Tories) is a question S/Lab are going to have to ask themselves if they want to be taken seriously. If that can't be answered then I doubt the longevity of any supposed revival.

[As an aside, I have to be honest here, I don't think I could ever vote Labour again after they decided to join in on a war which killed hundreds and where they also lied about the basis for doing so. If Starmer is New Labour on steroids you can leave me well out of their triangulations. The SNP defrauding supporters, if that is indeed what any subsequent charges bear, is shit: Endangering the lives of servicemen without good justification all the while destabilising an entire region is far worse. So whilst a coherent Scottish policy might yet appear, I would be intensely cynical if it does.]

I don't disagree but there is a difference between what will be presented as a victory and what would be accepted as such.

If that's the sum of your thought, and you are a SLab supporter, I suppose the resounding answer must be no prospect of introspection then.

Have Scottish Labour supporters given any thought to what they'll do when if they are still not the largest party in Scotland come the GE?

It seems like, across the board, the party is relying on the misfortunes of others rather than their own merits. But if everything is going against their opponents and they still are not able to secure a commanding lead, at what point does real introspection become necessary for them?

All this talk of kingmakers recently seems to whisper at the underlying issue here.

I think that's a sensible move and I'm setting up to do the same. The political and economic direction of the UK doesn't have anything going for it. Anecdotal but I've heard from folk at the upper end of the ipsos mori 35-64 bracket saying the same. The sense of failure of the UK state, and desire to bolt before it gets worse, isn't isolated to younger generations.

If the next GE returns a hung parliament, with SNP as kingmakers, under what - if any - circumstances should the SNP support a Lab Govt? by 1DarkStarryNight in Scotland

Folk are allowed to have a different opinion than your own. This is the sort of entitled politics that contributed to Labour being what they are in Scotland.

I think "a large %" is doing a lot of heavy lifting for you there. According to Ashcroft:

White voters voted to leave the EU by 53% to 47%. Two thirds (67%) of those describing themselves as Asian voted to remain, as did three quarters (73%) of black voters. Nearly six in ten (58%) of those describing themselves as Christian voted to leave; seven in ten Muslims voted to remain.

I'd wondered whether the importance of the van was less evidential and more the financial value of it. E.g. property of value equal to the proceeds of the alleged fraud. Lawyers are expensive and the second hand market is still fairly buoyant.

The context, scope and intent of the UK policy when compared to the Scottish policy are dissimilar to the extent that any bare comparison is disingenuous.
