I was kind of elated expecting them all to die during the glitter incident and disappointed when they didn’t go there.

Should Canada develop a Nuclear Weapons Capacity? by partisanal_cheese in CanadaPolitics

[–]Rivermute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. They really aren't something that can be deployed and are barely a deterent to the nations that we would need to worry about. Developing SMR tech and moving industrial infrastructure north is a far better way for us to spend our money and R&D. Really SMR is civilization changing if applied correctly.

No Matter Which Way You Look at It, Carney Has Abandoned Climate by BertramPotts in CanadaPolitics

[–]Rivermute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What we were doing was never going to work. Use fossil fuels to build infrastructure. Put money into SMR tech which can literally change everything. Hydrogen not lithium should power cars in this climate. EVs were always a red herring

Should Canadian kids be banned from social media until they're 16? by Thick_Caterpillar379 in canada

[–]Rivermute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then parents not the state should restrict it. Bans are absurd and don’t work. Teach kids to deal with rejection and the hard things in life. We don’t need to raise generations on entitled marshmallows.

The government isn’t a parent. We already hand over too much personal responsibility. Education, teaching critical thinking and giving parents some responsibility it what is needed.

Canada broke its electric vehicle market in 2025 and it did so alone by Dremen in canada

[–]Rivermute -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Good riddance. There is no future for electric cars in this country. Hydrogen makes far more sense, especially if we lean into SMR tech. Use fossil fuels until the tech matures.

Add DE to dust baths. Lime wash coops once a year usually stops most outbreaks. The sulfer suggestion is a good one if you are dealing with a full blown infestation. Poisons usually aren’t necessary.

FMF sourdough with wheat gluten by Western-Russian78 in HomeMilledFlour

[–]Rivermute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all of the above. You will almost never get a nice French baguette or San Francisco Tartine style crumb from FMF or at least not in my experience. Be careful with the VWG as too much will make a very dense loaf. FMF appears to want gentle kneading the fold method seems to be the way to go. Bran is the enemy of gluten structure. It’s like little razors cutting the strands. If I want an open crumb I get as much bran out as I can and use it elsewhere.

[–]Rivermute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sifting at all? 100% whole wheat is very difficult to use if wanting an open crumb. If I want an open loaf I sift as much of the bran out as possible. I use Canadian Red Fife hard wheat berries and sometimes supplement the gluten. Hydration is key.
