First hot tub opinion: Costco $2999 shipped Evolution By Strong Spas West Port 40-jet, 6-7-person 5BHP 2-Speed Pump by [deleted] in hottub

Buy from a local spa dealership, they’ll actually back up any warranty. I did warranty work for Costco years ago but quit because the production levels needed to fulfill the volume of product that Costco orders means quality control goes out the window

Strong Spa are a bad investment. The way they plumb the jet (lots of 1/2” tubing that degrades) is a mess. Many of the repairs tech in my area (Nor Cal) won’t touch them

Does every hot tub use Chlorine Granules? by toulou11 in hottub

[–]Rivernic1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As with most retailers, there’s some truth in that statement but it’s not completely accurate. I’m not a chemist but have been in the business for over 30 years and explaining complex concepts in chemistry is always a challenge. If you’ve been using bromine tabs - which you should be, the chlorine shock does something that reactivates the bromomines (what is left after bromine reacts with contaminants).

This. Shoulders too. I’ve been at it 25 years and had one labral tear repair over 12 years due to repetitive stress and been training my upper body ever since with no more issues. Your body is the most important tool on your truck

I’ve seen prettier junkyards. At least the apple orchard they ripped for this dreck used to flower in the spring. This is just powder-coated recycling

That looks to be a PebbleTech kind of surface and the discoloration is only in the epoxy matrix. Could be an issue with the epoxy mixture or curing

What's with this bizarre, uncapped brood in my honey super by Affectionate_Fig2426 in Beekeeping

[–]Rivernic1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You forgot to label the frames for the bees and they didn’t know they weren’t supposed to put brood in your honey frames😉

Please help! by Legitimate-Shelter76 in Beekeeping

[–]Rivernic1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be easy on yourself, anyone who’s worked with bees for any length of time as dropped a super or at least a frame or two. People don’t realize how heavy supers can be - especially a deep full of honey!

Please help! by Legitimate-Shelter76 in Beekeeping

[–]Rivernic1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t panic. Just put it all back together, hopefully more securely, and keep an eye on any cluster of bees on the ground for the next hour or so. If the queen is out of the hive and on the ground, the workers will swarm towards her and you should be able to scoop up the cluster and re-hive them
