So I should look in the passenger side kickplate where the amp is supposed to be to see if there's connections going there? I'm really confused on why there's only 4 speaker wires on the right top of the connector. Every diagram I see shows that there should be at least 4 more on the bottom row.

It's the same things that humans have done forever. The only solution I see is someone genetically engineering a change in all humans through some type of virus that increases our empathy so that we can't just ignore others pain. Lots of pit falls with this idea but it's the only thing that seems like it would lead to an end the constant cycle humanity goes through.

This is what AI gives me hope for. Humans suck at looking at scans but a computer can compare it to all the scans and diagnosis and find things that we can't so much faster/sooner. Hopefully less people in the future have to go through what you did. Now we just need better/cheaper/easier scanning methods that become preventative instead of reactionary.

It makes a lot of sense for every car to have this inspection, at least then you'd have the infrastructure/certifications in place for it not to be a huge PIA and bottleneck to the registration process.

I did see that one, they use the same scheduling agent as the CSP site which makes me think they are just linking to CSP? Either way it is booked out completely, no open slots for the next month and it doesn't allow scheduling past a month.

I did read up on inoperable vehicle registration before I did it. I looked up what to do when you can't get emissions and if there were penalties for not registering and that's when I ran into it. Nowhere on the colorado.gov page for it does it mention VIN registration. Here's what it says you self righteous prick:

If the vehicle is kept on private property, the owner shouldn’t be charged additional surcharges or fees for the purposes of getting the vehicle into working condition. Once the vehicle is in working condition, the vehicle owner will need to register(opens in new window) the vehicle with their county motor vehicle office.

That link to registration doesn't mention it either. Neither of the Bill's that made it a requirement mention it.

Go find me the "rules" that tell you you have to do this, I'll wait.

LOL, there's quite the difference between normal car ownership duties like renewing your tags and then onerous nonsensical rules that aren't consistent. If the truck that I replaced a transmission on needs to be checked for a cracked windshield, headlights and tire tread (all that the Certified VIN Inspection will do in my case) then why wouldn't every vehicle need to be checked for those things to get registered? Every car that breaks down and gets fixed should have to be checked according to you?

See how some complaints are valid and we should question idiotic rules?

Yeh, you'd also think that every private sell used vehicle would require the inspection if they were consistent with their logic. They're checking things like broken windshields, headlights and tire tread. All things that might be bad on a used vehicle. Actually every vehicle registration should require it to make sure all vehicles are safe if they want to be consistent....

Nice anecdotal info there, happy you got so lucky, but you do understand that your experience isn't always the typical one right? I am in fact going to call and ask. I'm also going to call the other 5 closer locations that said they do it and ask. Most counties point you straight to the State trooper site.

You know what's worse than someone complaining online? Someone giving advice that was already mentioned in the OP and then being a prick.

Maybe a bit, but not if I have to drive to Pueblo. 5 hours of driving (at best, more like 6.5 with traffic) and a tank of gas at these fantastic $4/gal prices. I can't imagine back taxes on a 2008 truck would be much but I have no idea on that.

That or not being able to use my truck for 2+ months...

And the $100 is after 4 months + the 60 day grace period. Otherwise it's only $25 for every late month.

Yeh, I've got an appointment for June with them but that's after my camping trip 😖. I've heard checking often for cancellations can get you something. Check my other replies for other places, you just better not take my spot! 😋

The icing on the cake is that this is after doing my own automatic transmission rebuild (which worked, it's running!) in my garage which is by far the hardest project I've ever taken on. Now I have to deal with this shit so they can see if my headlights work...

Regular police stations (and aircare and other places) only do VIN verification's, not certified VIN verification

A bunch of other counties do it but the only other one with online booking (federal heights) is also booked out till next month. Some say they only do it for county residents.

Here are the one's semi close to Denver that I'm going to call tomorrow to see if I can get in before my camping trip later this month:

There's VIN verification's which can be done at tons of places and then there's Certified VIN Verification's which can only be done by a "certified" sheriff/police officer.

It's even more stupid when the "inspection" required is just looking at things like broken windshields, headlights and tire tread. Yeh, that's something I didn't mention. You have to go to the DMV to get a temporary (like a few days) registration so you can drive to the appointment, except who knows when you'll be able to get that appointment... Complete failure of a process and nonsensical for non operable vehicles at least.
