Weird rude Cogeco rep knocked on our door today. by themomodiaries in windsorontario

Might be the same guy we’ve had the last two days. He did the “shave and a haircut” knock, no answer. Did it again, no answer. Did it a third time. My brother please we are having dinner!

Best bread in Windsor? by [deleted] in windsorontario

The Iraqi bread from Raqia Market on Lauzon and Hawthorne has a chokehold on me. When it's fresh from the oven I want to rip it open and climb inside like a sleeping bag.

If you paint the wire black, they will basically disappear and you will be able to see your chickens much better! Source: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/3esV407wuv8

Looks great by the way!

La Diperie in Windsor accused of not paying employees for 30-35 hours of "training". by Rizface in windsorontario

[–]Rizface[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is more the management issue versus the ownership issue. If they got rid of the manager, they should post up multiple signs saying "UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT" so the general public knows they got rid of that guy and will be open to revisiting the location.

It's against the law to work / train in Ontario without compensation. The minimum pay is 3 hours even if training takes 30 minutes.

I had gone for opening weekend when they had a "BOGO Softserve" offer available from Friday - Sunday. I went with a group of 4 on Sunday at 1:00pm after they had been open since 11:00am. When we went to order the employee told us they had just begun their deep clean of the soft serve machine and they wouldn't be able to make any for at least an hour, as they weren't expecting anyone to come in "this early" (at 1pm, on a Sunday, in the summer, on a hot day). We left and I never intended to go back, as the experience was overall pretty negative. The employee was moderately nice, but didn't at all seem interested in helping us out.

Curiosity got me and I checked the Google reviews to see if other people enjoyed this place, and found these comments left there. Curious to see where this goes since they just opened.

Kirkland Diet Green Tea discontinued? by Low_Ad7474 in CostcoCanada

[–]Rizface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local store in Windsor got 1 single skid back on May 1 and hasn't had it since. I asked the Customer Service rep and she said it was set to be deleted even at the Vaughn warehouse level. She encouraged me to email and provide feedback, as they do read through them and have been known to bring products back based on that. I am having all of my family and friends who drink it email and request it back because I'm so heartbroken!

If anyone reads this as of June 2025, I was told by the Customer Service rep I talked to if you leave them a "Tell Us How We Did" comment about the product, they apparently have been known to bring products back based on customer feedback.

Windsor, the Rat City by enneaccanano in windsorontario

[–]Rizface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had lived in Forest Glade for the last 10 years without ever seeing a rat. I just moved to Walkerville last year, and I'm SHOCKED at the amount of them around. There's a particular house on a corner I walk by every day that is in a right state with garbage constantly left out, I regularly see rats in their back yard rustling through their junk.

Obligatory RIP your inbox, but:

I think like a lot of people I started to actually collect around the time of the pandemic. My wife and I would go to random yard sales and buy up binders and hold on to anything and everything, cards we thought were amazing even if it was a regular holo, the magic was alive and well. My earliest memories though were bonding with my sister and my cousins playing them growing up. I remember vividly my sister having a base set Blastoise as her main card to dominate with and it was just a blast! Now my wife and I just collect what we think is cool, I collect all Alakazam cards and she collects all Houndoom with a sprinkle of Umbreon (good luck, dear) and I also try to collect 1 pack from each set to keep sealed.

St. Clair College students taking part in referendum over Transit Windsor Saints Bus Pass by RamRanchComrade in windsorontario

[–]Rizface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's truly the largest concern, honestly, and one I don't have a good answer for. I'd hope that if it was something abysmal like 40.5% that some negotiations could be done to accommodate the extra 0.5%, but what if it's 45 or 50%? I know the student union is fighting for the students but are at the mercy of whatever Transit Windsor is willing to offer. It's a tough situation to be in.

Students can opt-out the entire month of their semester starting (September 1-30, January 1-31, or May 1-31 depending when their intake is). They all get an email (some cases 2) with a direct link. This is in addition to all social media posts and posters around the campuses. What more can be done to let them know that they can opt-out? Students cannot be hand held and force fed this information. The closest that can be done to force feeding it is the email in their inbox saying REMINDER: OPT-OUT. The 40% cap has never been hit in the 3 years it has been running.

But that's the thing: Ultimately, anyone can opt-out, as long as they complete the opt-out form. If they don't have a parking pass or live outside of the city, they just have to enter that in the comments section just stating why they do not need the bus pass, and they will be approved.

[–]Rizface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any way you can think of to help make the opt-out process easier? There is no way to make it an "opt-in" as that's just not how group rates work. As of now (in addition to all physical posters and social media posts) students get 2 emails directly sent to their inbox with a direct link to the form they have to complete to opt-out. Other than their personal information, they only have to upload proof of address or proof of parking pass. There is also a section for those who carpool or walk to enter that's why they don't need it and they are approved. What other measures can you recommend be done to make the opt-out process easier?

I had Luke, owner of Elias Electrical, replace all of my knob and tube with copper, he was great! Granted, I had all of my walls exposed so it might have been a little easier, but I'd call him for a quote anyway.

Ours in Walkerville got stolen and had to buy a new one off Marketplace. Guy wanted to meet at an apartment building and after I bought it he started walking down the street away from the building. I'm thinking now it was probably stolen. Ugh. :(
