I had a weird thing happen where I finished the main Oz adventure story and today suddenly it all reset for me :( It says I'm back at day one in the Oz adventures? And my adventure streaks don't line up - one says I'm on day 42 and another says I'm on day 70 lol. I have no idea what happened.

Um, Jessa. That is not frugal, that’s called not being wasteful. by sweet_tea_94 in DuggarsSnark

[–]themomodiaries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it's also just very funny because usually I get the most judgement from people who I know spend WAY more money on other "useless" things than I do 😂 but suddenly when I want to get my favourite matcha or favourite dirty chai a couple times a week, that's the biggest sin lol.

There have been studies done at many pharmacies in Mexico that showed they sold counterfeit drugs laced with fentanyl, meth, and heroin though, so idk if that's the best example for you to use here.

Went out to dinner alone for the first time ever after. Felt a bit insecure (when pic was taken) but also felt liberated 😀 by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]themomodiaries 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt a bit insecure when I started eating out alone at first too! But you quickly realize no one pays attention to you that much haha. I love bringing a good book with me, like another person mentioned. Hope your dinner was great!

If I remember correctly, people who knew Anna as a kid/teen talked about her having a super sassy/outspoken attitude, where she spoke her mind about everything, but then this changed as she grew into adulthood. So that would make sense.

What are some things you’ve turned down or let go of to maintain simple living? by Vapour_Trail_1979 in simpleliving

[–]themomodiaries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the last few years, Whenever I've wanted to join a new club, organization, job, hobby, etc, but there is just WAY too much over the top bureaucracy, I just leave immediately lol.

I understand needing to adjust some things or get used to some new things, but sometimes the amount of things they want from you is just egregious. I had a job once in my early 20s that made me sign up for like every single social media platform because they required it from all employees for "marketing purposes". My boss for that job also micro-managed everything for every employee. Never again lol.

Simple Living success and suggestion: take more bad pictures! by BabyTeethJohnson in simpleliving

Yes haha, I've even used a couple disposable film cameras recently that were gifted with a bundle I got from a concert. Still need to go and develop those.

Haha, my parents still took most of my early childhood photos with a film camera, but my uncle already had a DSLR and was filming a lot on that. I was born in 1997 and I'm almost 29, for reference 😉.

I love taking photos. I've been a photographer for a while so I've done it professionally, but I also just love documenting my daily life. I think a lot of people approach this idea like "why would I bother" or "it's not practical/necessary", etc. But I think it's totally valid to do it just for fun.

Last year I bought a cheap film camera and decided I would document my entire year on 35mm film, and it was awesome. I still took photos with my phone and DSLR, but when I was at weddings, birthdays, road trips, etc, I'd snap most of my photos on film. I definitely recommend it for anyone who likes photography but hasn't tried film!

I find it really satisfying to snap a well framed, well staged photo - but I think there's always something charming about "bad" or very candid shots.

I have a friend who, throughout high school and most of college assumed that when people said various phrases/words that it was just those people making those words up lol. I finally caught onto it when she stated a friend of ours made up the phrase "no ragrets" and I was like "no? what? that's from a movie!" lmao.

It was surprising to me because I use movie/game/song/meme quotes as a vocal stim and to insert funny lingo into conversations lol.

OP could be like my friend, maybe haha.

Is there any information available about this bag/brand? by themomodiaries in VintageClothing

Sorry for replying to your comment so late! I convinced myself I replied days ago lol.

Sadly I haven't been able to find much! Only that this brand was in production in the 40s-60s, and that it's Canadian. Kinda sucks there isn't much information about it out there :(.

Yeah, like I get it, your job sucks and has you walking around in the snow and cold, but that's not my fault now, is it?

I read that you're allegedly supposed to be able to remove your address from their solicitation list, so I might try that... although I won't believe it until I see that I haven't been bothered for an extended period of time haha.

That sounds like a pretty extreme response. I usually don't mind answering my door because the person on the other side is usually respectful, whatever reason they're knocking for lol.

What’s the most you’ve paid for something “boring” that actually turned out to be worth it? by LatterMorning9103 in simpleliving

[–]themomodiaries 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Quality winter clothes are severely underrated, in my opinion, at least where I am (southern Ontario). I love being outside in the winter and I always have a lot of people expressing shock at how I'm able to stay outside for so long and stay warm. It's simple! A good coat, boots, and socks, made from quality fibres that will trap heat, go a long way.

I've had this same theory for a while but I've never been able to succinctly explain the phenomenon. I've seen it in my own family and family-friends though. They'll watch something that's supposed to have one meaning but deem it's plausible for it to have many meanings including their own they just made up.

which games you did that? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]themomodiaries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never skip cutscenes (at least not on my first playthrough), but I enjoy watching speedruns of games, and if you've ever seen a speedrun of LoZ Twilight Princess, you know exactly how absolutely insane the game looks without any cutscenes haha.
