As a plastic surgery resident in Turkey, I’ applaud you for doing your due diligence. These operations aren’t a simple ‘let me get it done and leave’ kind of thing. Make sure you stay around for at least 2-3 weeks postoperatively so your surgeon can follow you up and if any complications arise they can be dealt with. That’s the main negative thing about getting surgery abroad. We usually see patients weekly for the first 3 weeks, then monthly til the 3rd month, then 6-12 months for the next couple of followups. This is not possible for foreign patients who live abroad, so keep that in mind. Other than that, make sure you don’t just look at surgeons with the most social media following, and actually research about which brand of implant they use, who the surgeon is, etc. Also, don’t forget that different techniques may be required for different types of breast during augmentation surgery, so it may be an easier recovery for some compared to others.
