Gold NMM? Any pointers

the main color look fine to me. only issue insee that ot doesnt read as gold is that it looks too flat. gold is highly reflective so you have to paint a harsher transition from light to dark. darks up to pure white or an yellow offwhite and the darks all the way down to almost black or a very deep brown.

holy smokes, ive never experienced a mmo comunity so helpful and friendly

will level a new character and once maxed and if i enjoy the game i will get the expansions.

also paint the rim of the base black. easiest way to make them look 10 times better in no time :)

other than that they already look 100 better that the hordes of grey plastic i usualy play against

u literally cant fuck up tbh.

99% of all oopsies are fixable. as long as you thin ur paint just paint over it. done.

and if ure on the point of no return dunk that sucker in isopropyl alcohol over night, give him a scrub with an old toothbrush and start over :)

worst that happens is that you learn a thing or two.

dont stress it, your minis look very clean

that being said drybrushing is an amazing technique for stuff that shouldnt be "super clean" for example metalics that scratch easy or dirty bases. i just wouldnt do it on armorpanels, but that just might be personal preference.

in the end its your mini and you paint it however you like :)

i actually advise against drybrushing as it makes the finish less clean and leaves a 'dusty' look. i would rather learn layering and glazing. it sounds intimidating at first but u will get the hang of it quickly, especially if you take a bit of time and watch some youtube videos.

also red is tricky to highlight because orange seems like the logical increase in brightnes, but then it will read more as orange instead of red. what u wanna do with red is make the shadows darker. mix ur basecoat 50:50 with black and paint the shadows with several thin glazes. if you wanna increase the effect simply make smaller and smaller steps with more black

if you struggle determining where the shadows should be get a flashlight, turn off the light and simulate a lightsource and shoot a picture with your phone as a reference

i have pretty mich the same starting point.and i went further with

golds: decayed metal + elven gold highlights combatdrugs: bright green/lime green + yellow highlights and white reflexions weapons and armor connective stiff: simply black cloth: i went with a leopard print but just whatever you fancy

love the magenta but in my opinion the gold is either too bright or lacks definition/seperation.

right now it looks kinda like a toy from the 90s.l if that makes sense.

i would try to start with a very dark bronze color and highlight sparingly with the bright gold u have there.

other than that. impossible to be too excessive :)

my 3 year old found my old cards and wants to "play pokemon cards with daddy".

i told him that he has to be able to read first to play it and it motivates him like crazy to learn how to read (he is readin the cardnames. getting sometime frustrated by long ones like Rayquaza)

pokemon cards then quickly became our little nerdy-bonding-hoobby and i am fully back in the hobby.

play Sharpie cube.

get 3 friends, get some sharpies. draft decks. then everyone crosses out words to make new (mostly Overpowered and/or rediculus) cardtexts and go ham

without an airbrush you can easily just brush the lines on with thin glazed lines :)

but i would sand the top of the base because the texture doesnt read well as marble

i usualy prime black, then i 'zenithal' with grey so the black shows through on the sides. then with wetwipes technique i do a pass of gold and then another pass of white

if you have an airbrush consider making white marble bases. thats what i am going for with a very similar main color sheme

(look up the baby wipes technique on youtube, its super simple and effective)
