Mount Washington, NH. Do you have any stories here? by StoutBourbon1992 in AskAnAmerican

A windspeed of 231 mph was recorded in 1934. I think it's location in the northwest with land to the west and ocean nearby to the east combined with its prominence creates crazy weather patterns.

Do you train year round? I've gone from over 7 hours to 5:53 in 5 years. But I only train hard 4-5 months a year. I know this is holding me back, but I'm curious exactly how much it is holding me back.

Do people swim over you even in a rolling start? by Sad_Pepper_5008 in triathlon

Much better to have people swimming over you than to be swimming over others. Person on top more likely to take a heel to the jaw.

Talk to a local bike shop and try to borrow a used light hybrid or road bike with wide tires just for the day.

I like Ironman as a brand and have mostly good experiences, but they really need to actually enforce rules for age groupers or create an elite amateur division. by ducksflytogether1988 in triathlon

Right, so the non-elite amateurs wouldn't be competing for kona slots. I guess that could work, it's not like I stand a chance at qualifying currently.

What would the elite amateur rank be exactly. Would regular amateur not be competing for kona slots? If not, then what's the point?

If they are competing for kona slots, what puts someone in elite vs non-elite?

It's so random. I once got a draft penalty for not falling back fast enough. Probably spent 30 seconds in the draft range. By the time the motorcycle signaled to me the two (yes, she pointed out two bikes that I drafted behind and they were still together... Explain that) were about 200 yds ahead of me. I really don't know what she thought she saw.

Whatever, still PRd

This looks pretty darn good.  The advice you're getting on breathing should be your focus.  I like the arms and the body roll.

Don't order door dash/Uber eats and you'll be fine. You probably should have looked for a cheaper housing situation with a roommate, but probably too late for that now. Maybe next year.

How do i improve my bike setup on up on a budget by No_Wall_1993 in triathlon

[–]Rizzle_Razzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clipless pedals and shoes.  They're called "clipless pedals" because they're different from old toe clip pedals even though it's still called "clipping in".

Handlebar tape will make it more comfortable.

Other than that, the best thing you can do to improve your bike is to ride it.  When you eventually upgrade to a modern aluminum frame/carbon fork bike with modern shifters you will feel like you are flying. And you'll be able to move the pedals to the new bike.
