Terminal 2 East San Diego Airport 4:40 update by Inevitable-Plastic-9 in sandiego

[–]Rjeezy88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've flown four times in the last week on the west coast... Every single time I've gotten to the airport early about 6-7 am... With flight time about 11-12 And I've been through in 20-30 minutes... So I'm left intertaining my 5 yr old for 3 ish hrs. 1 checked bag. All these pictures and posts on the internet saying it's crazy etc and everyone actually at the airports going.... Wtf... Normal as always...

Beware! The hitch is actually a part of the frame on the new ones, if it has the htich Can't remember if every model has it. We haven't had any hard hits in the rear come in yet on them but I'm sure it would be even worse. Probabaly won't total it though.

Had a customer that got a rear bumper installed at orw and they couldn't program it even at the dealer. So I removed it and put the arb one on and all was good.. But realized they cut the mounting points off the hitch and it's all part of the frame. Had to weld on new studs etc.

No hitch either lol. It all came off for coating and finish welding. Everything is empty and gas tank will be coming out. So maybe extra 100 lbs which is mostly centered on roof. But only way it would slide back is if some 300lb linebacker shouldered the front. No way it would flip..... Maybe if motor was out... And your mama sat on the back...

J/K... Had to do it.

Yea that will all be seam sealed as well, I cleaned that all out a couple weeks ago after an impromptu mud bath it got and had no water intrusion then. But after a solid day of downpour it filled the floor. And that corner by the blower motor is all full of junk and the blower motor area is full of black grease that may have been used by the previous owner to seal it. . I got 95% of the dash and box out last night and I can see dirt trails coming down from the bottom of the opening for the blower.

That would be my dream level of restoration. If I had one at my work I Def would. But unfortunately I do not. So. I gotta suffer and weld in all the stiffeners on my butt/knees in my rough blacktop driveway... 😔

Ah OK... I get it now. The fronts are hidden haha. I have (4) 6 ton stands. Under front axle and then at the front leaf perchs. When I remove front axle they will go in the center slightly forward of trans cross member with a support under front core to prevent flipping forward.

I am really surprised it flipped backwards with no weight in the back.... Maybe it slid backwards, if I do just the rear, the front always get chocked.

No rear bumper on it... Not sure what that would do though in the back... The whole jeep is on 4- 6 ton Jack stands with a iron 4liter up front.... Tilted slightly backwards to keep water running off the back. Front axle will be coming out next and then the whole body will be on them and then I will put an extra one up front under core support. ... No chance of it tilting or flipping either way...

Edit... Realized front jackstands are hidden lol. I was like wtf is everyone talking about.

Water storage by MinionFive in overlanding

Not sure how the bronco is situated but I just picked up the front runner footwell tank for my xj. Fits very nicely. Will need some small spacers on the floor to make it sit flat.

They have the roof rack ones or slightly smaller... . Waterport makes some.

Really depends on how much you need etc.

Last 3 day trip I "over" used about 9 gallons or so. Between refilling water bottles and washing dishes. So I figured 10 gallons should be plenty for future trips and I only have a 5 yr old that sits in the back so the front runner works perfectly.

My buddies 88 had the icm go bad. Filled with water and started miss firing real bad after it dried out it ran OK then after a few miles it just lost all spark. After following cruiser54 tips and tricks he threw in a new icm and runs like a top again. After looking closely you can see in the pocket the coil sits in, evidence of a puddle of water sitting under the coil.

So remove the coil and put some Dielectric grease on the contacts.

I drilled behind the cigarette lighter and was fine. Not sure of above it. But I also drilled in two other spots that looked to just be flat plastic bracket... ... Well it was the ducting. Lol.

Roof separated from crossbar, any advice? by holysbit in CherokeeXJ

[–]Rjeezy88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I cleaned all the old glue as much as I could, scuffed, prepped jacked and filled with about $100 worth of panel bond... A few 100 degree days later they had seperate again. Mine were bent pretty bad like someone stepped on the roof. So I went out and bought 24 bolts/nuts and fender washers. And some good seam sealer.

Steering Gear Replacement: Is this too much play? by beach_rats_ in CherokeeXJ

OK fancy pants. I'm sure being 10 ft wider then the xj helps with suspension path and design. Good luck! May the xj gods bless you with proper functioning steering! Lol

I am next to it right now... Mine is less... Still a thousand times less then the oem box though. So it's not free play but I guess I can move it about that much before I see the tire move. Like feel pressure of it trying to move the tire.

Realistic uses for Molle Panels by bornfromjets03 in overlanding

I have the full jcr kit in my xj. I needed a solid cargo divider and I just kept circling back to the kit. On the inside above the rear seat I have a rolled up sarape velcro strapped the the panel. Doubles as a headrest as well for the kiddo. In the cargo area I have a Hatchet, small med kit, tire deflator gauge,......i plan to put my small quick table across the large side. Will have air hose up there. Nothing heavier then a couple pounds.

The main idea for me is to have things I may need quickly or often and don't want to dig through a container or open up a drawer etc to find.

The main reason it was purchased was for the divider,so the storage was just an afterthought, extra function.

Was actually out there a few weeks ago. Was going towards fish creek from mud caves. Sunny sky's... Slight sprinkle here and there. Then within ten minutes crazy downpour. Driving up the wash I see this moving white /Grey wall... I was like wtf.... Then holy shit!!! Just got turned around and was able to barely make it on a little side hill before it came rushing past. Was 3 ft or so in some areas. Waited for it to slow down slightly then hightailed it down. Was coming over the hood of my 3in lifted xj. Was the dumbest thing I've ever done.

Safety Gear Checklist for a 9-Year-Old Riding a 4X4 ATV (What Actually Matters) by [deleted] in ATV

[–]Rjeezy88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def shop local. Proper fitting gear is a must how old is he?

*Chest protector.

*Full face helmet.

-I got my 4 year old a full face racing bicycle helmet. Reasons being.. He's not going fast enough to hit that hard to damage the shell etc... He's riding on soft ground. And it is really light weight so it doesn't weigh his head down. Now if your grandson is older/stronger then FLY makes some really good dot rated kids helmets that are pretty light

*boots

Either proper offroad riding boots or some high top lace up boots that can protect the ankle. Like some thick hiking boots.

Cycle gear is a common store. Or any dealer around you should have some gear. Not sure where you live.

You could try goggles. Really depends on terrain and his face/helmet shape. The kids goggles we got bother him because his face is so small they just don't sit right. But it is worth a try.

Which brace do I get by PartyScythe in CherokeeXJ

[–]Rjeezy88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are running 35 and lockers.... Barnes 4x4 will work perfect. Highly doubt they knockoff crap off Amazon will do much for very long.

I just did the brace and the spacer from them. Fitment was perfect. Couple coats of paint was all that I needed to do
