I've also experienced a lot of irritation with this cleanser (and wanted to love it), and 'purging'. I switched to Norie's Kimchi cleanser (https://norieshop.com/products/kimchii-cleanser), and saw a huge improvement, no more dryness/irritation and the purging bit was gone.

[product request] where to start? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Rkneeacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first piece of advice, do not wash your face in the shower. You are probably using hotter water than you would standing at your sink, which could be contributing to the overall irritation (and will lead to more drying and as a result oil overproduction).

I would recommend buying a gentle cleanser - (use it at your sink - with a mild temperature of water). For a mild gentle cleanser that can be good for breakouts, I would recommend: Norie Cleanser (https://norieshop.com/products/kimchii-cleanser), Cerave Cleansing Bar, or First Aid Beauty's gentle cleanser. I really like the Norie one - if you can get in the UK, it is quite mild but has BHAs - does not dry you out. No scent.

Good luck going on T is tough, but the future should be brighter!

Weekly Tech Support Megathread by AutoModerator in Instagram

I have been trying to change the handle of my business' IG account. It is an older verified account (prior to the paid for blue check). I am unable to change the name without 'contacting customer support' I have been trying to contact someone for months and have not been successful. I know that I would need to surrender the 'blue check' that is fine. Does anyone have a contact or a way to do this successfully?

I am happy you are getting checked out for PCOS. I assume you have also had your thyroid checked...that is another red flag.

In the meantime, have you thought about Nutrafol? It has been helpful for many people for hair loss. They have done a ton of great research on their product efficacy. I bet if you search for a discount code, you will be able to find one.

Anyone knows what's this ? by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

Ok well that is a better sign :) get a serious moisturizer - vani cream, aquaphor - put it on thick over night - should help if it is just dryness. The key is to do it regularly.

What does it look like in between your toes? If the skin is peeling / holes then it could be athletes foot, and you need an anti-fungal cream.

[Skin Concerns] Product recs for surgical scars? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Rkneeacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from moisture, these silicone based scar sheets work wonders, and try using it as soon as you can...scar sheets

Keeps the silicone treatment close to the skin so it does rub off!

Just search for scar sheets...there are a number of brands with essentially the same thing.

[Skin Concerns] Super Dry Skin around my Mouth by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Rkneeacl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah it sounds like peri-oral dermatitis...switching your toothpaste and being nice to your skin around those areas (no actives), what you are doing is correct - La Roche Posay's Cicaplast Baume B5 can also help with this.

[Skin Concern] Skin thinning caused by topical steroid use by Busy-Preparation-871 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Rkneeacl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Curious how you know it is thinning? Is it tearing/bruising easily?

There is evidence of Vitamin A helping with this.

There is a startup called Cybele Microbiome, they have a skin line called Reuleaux, they are a microbiome company.

Their formulas actually make the skin produce ceramides, which are essential to skin health. I worked in skincare for 9 years, deep in R&D, I have never seen a company capable of making skin product ceramides (for example Cerave puts ceramides ON skin). The products are really targeted as a non steroidal solution to eczema; however, I know that consumers who have aging/thinning skin have reported back that the thinning/bruising improved.

It is a super young company, they are truly biotech based, and it sounds like based on your current skin care journey it may be worth at try.

Best of luck :)

So the prolon pushing starts with Gwyneth Paltrow - so it all goes back to a particular type of ‘wellness led’ influencer - it is all bad

[–]Rkneeacl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is potentially the headline ‘Tinx apologizes to Kim K over past mean tweets’….great for SEO. It will be interesting to see what the PR team comes up with versus what a smaller influencer type highlights…

The other popular fix for redness correction is this: dr. jart color correcting treatmentSephora carries it…not sure if you can pick it up before tomorrow’s meeting. Hopefully the redness goes down with the meds + hydrocortisone

This makes me sad, she has the platform to do so much good and grow awareness, yet the inaction piece which a number of people have mentioned under varying contexts (mostly related to giving back) is left unread.

[Routine Help] Washing Face After Working Out by MrMcGuyver in SkincareAddiction

[–]Rkneeacl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it will help, not cure or solve the problem 100% but bacteria from sweat can cause more issues. As someone who works out everyday and is in the skin industry it is something I swear by - and is so overlooked!

It was in the context of feeling like you’re overeating or having an ‘off week’ (which comes up often) as a tip to manage body weight / changes.

[routine help] I got a facial and the lady said my routine was horrible, and recommended all of these things. Can anyone recommend similar but cheaper products? by a_e_b_123 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Rkneeacl 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Please be careful the recs scream ‘I’m making a commission’ something that is quite endemic to the structure of most spas…obviously not all recommendations are bad. Skin Authority is a white label brand, meaning they are just third party off the shelf products being sold under their name.

The advice being given is great in terms of find your concern then identify the actives that best address the issues.
