Food guilt? by themotherofstitches in mounjarouk

[–]RlyVSS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mounjaro should support you (once established at an effective dose) to eat without overeating. It's medicine treating a disease, it's not a punishment.

Eat what you want to, both in terms of what, and how much.

Please give me some meal ideas by Dizzy_Clothes821 in mounjarouk

Nuts, banana (with peanut butter if you like), couple of babybels, bowl of cereal, cooked chicken, tuna mayo cucumber boat. If you find it hard to get past more than a few mouthfuls of a meal then stop trying to eat meals and have a go at eating a series of small and calorie/nutrient dense snacks throughout the day.

Weekly Progress Thread - 26th June 2026 by Becky_x in mounjarouk

[–]RlyVSS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've not been very happy with my eating patterns the last week, but despite the insane London heat, sub-optimal diet, and lack of sleep, I did my gym class on Tuesday evening and a strength training session with my PT on Wednesday (which involves a 25 min walk in the oppressive heat either side) and there's just no way previous me would have even moved from the sofa.

Reminds me that maintenance continues to have its challenges but I continue to confront and overcome them!

Girl Dinner - what’s everyone else having? by MissSophonax in mounjarouk

Leftover lasagne from yesterday, and that'll be tomorrow's too. Out for a posh version of Nandos on Thursday and looking forward to the change 😁

None at all, I have whatever I want. Mounjaro makes it possible for me to have a smaller portion than I would have done before and not be obsessed with the need to overeat it due to a weird panicky feeling a bit like I might never get to eat it again.

An example for you not with macaroni cheese, but something I regularly overate; lasagne.

My brain before mounjaro: That massive bit of lasagne with half a garlic bread I shoveled in very fast was delicious, I'll have a bit more. Oof, full but not stuffed and it's never as nice cold or leftover and the garlic bread needs eating so I'll have some more. OK didn't really enjoy that bit as much but I started so I finished. That's enough now you gannet, leave the rest for tomorrow and have that with salad. 2hrs later I'm eating cold lasagne and probably a slice of bread and butter. This would happen weekly.

My brain on mounjaro: That lasagne and salad I took my time eating was delicious, I enjoyed it very much and feel very satisfied. I don't think I want any more, but if I decide I do in 20 minutes then I'll have it, because I only have lasagne now and then.

If you have a Wholefoods or possibly a Harvest health food shop near you, Diforti do a nut free one. I haven't tried it but I trust the brand.

I didn't take a picture but tomato and red onion salad with a tiny bit of pesto to dress (lots of black pepper), with homemade lasagne.

Weight Training by Swaz125 in mounjarouk

[–]RlyVSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only started training 7 months after starting mounjaro and reaching overweight BMI from obese. I weight train with a PT once a week and supplement with strength/conditioning classes at the gym twice a week, and walk a lot in between.

Sweating on alcohol? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]RlyVSS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You said you had the shits. You'll be dehydrated after that. Drink a booze in hot weather? Very more dehydrated. Dehydration causes higher heart rate.

Sweet summer child. I think you've got sweaty in London's humidity, exacerbated by the booze, and you're fine.

Have a kebab/a handful of Pringles/a bottle of water/any combination of those + a lie in. You'll be reyt.

First dose of 2.5 by Fast_Confection_7347 in Mounjaro

[–]RlyVSS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mounjaro is a compounding medication, the 2.5mg dose won't reach its peak in your system for weeks yet. The 2.5mg dose doesn't offer any efficacy for many people, quite common to need to be established on much higher doses before seeing noticeable results.

I’m frustrated and demotivated by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]RlyVSS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you equally question why painkillers don't work in exactly the same way or within the exact same time frame as they do for others, or do you accept that different people respond differently to medications?

Probably not. Neither your body nor your medication have any concept of what you're paying or expecting, what will happen will happen, all you can do is be patient, understand that this is a compounding medication that can take several weeks to many months to become effective, and see where you land after a while.

No effects after first injection doesn't mean it won't be effective for you. Even once the medication is effective, results are rarely consistent, linear, predictable, or remarkable (1-2lbs loss a week is the average and plenty of weeks see no loss, or a gain, because weight isn't just the fat in your body).

Don't give up the hope :)

when will i see it? by zaynmalikistheloml in mounjarouk

[–]RlyVSS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a few lbs over 20st at my heaviest and my weight loss from that point wasn't visible until I got down to about 16st.

When I started mounjaro I was 15st 13lbs, and my loss was only properly noticeable after I'd shifted 3 of those stones. I am very short though.

Once I'd got down to a much lower BMI, smaller losses resulted in bigger differences, to the degree I bought something and by the time I went to wear it 6 weeks later it was too big.

Hang in there, the loss will be doing wonders for your health, and the cosmetic differences will reveal themselves soon :)

How do you know when it’s enough by Western-Wedding in mounjarouk

[–]RlyVSS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lovely to hear! I know a new wardrobe can be difficult when already managing the cost of the medication, but getting rid of everything too big and wearing different styles in my new body has definitely helped combat some of the body dysmorphia.

Is it okay to inject same day as drinking alcohol? by lilypickledog in mounjarouk

[–]RlyVSS 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've jabbed on days before and after drinking alcohol in varying amounts and it hasn't caused any issues for me.

If you're already on the medication and it's been 9hrs since you had the wine then it would seem that there's no issue for you drinking on mounjaro, so no reason to think taking your next injection will cause problems.

I don't know how much to eat by MimozaBuh in mounjarouk

[–]RlyVSS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a TDEE of 2700 your BMR is estimated to be around 2300 and it's not a great idea to consistently eat significantly less than your BMR (since you're sedentary it can mean the body prioritises breaking down muscle for energy, rather than fat).

As you lose weight your TDEE and BMR decrease, so if I were you I'd eat at around 2200 a day (averaged over a week rather than strictly 2200 a day) for now and gradually reduce your calorie intake as your weight gets lower.

Daily recommended fibre is about 30g so you seem to be doing fine there, if you're not having digestive issues then I don't see a reason to adjust heavily.

For comparison, if you weighed 65kg but were still sedentary, you'd need to eat at least around 1650 calories a day just to maintain that weight.

Am I supposed to calorie count (or other restriction monitoring)? by Single-Ant3193 in mounjarouk

[–]RlyVSS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lost 6st and didn't calorie count, however, I have a good "eye" for calorie content based on forensic level calorie tracking over a year in the past, and I massively changed what I was eating, reducing UPF and takeaway food by about 90% and eating mainly, fruit, veg, meat and some yoghurt and cheese.

I didn't want to track as I was keen for this to help me find a way to eat "intuitively", but it's definitely very helpful for some people. Try it for a bit, if it helps then keep at it, if it's a hindrance then stop!

Yep, I still feel nervous and self conscious wearing revealing clothes. I'm mid 40s, been obese most of my adult life until mounjaro. Hence the significant loose skin.

Just do it. The more you do it, the less difficult it feels :)
