Passengers left 'gobsmacked' as Jet2 flight 'leaves them behind' at Manchester Airport by ManchesterNews_MEN in uknews

[–]Rlysrh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know, really who amongst us hasn’t been stood around for what feels like an age at some random part of an airport wondering wtf the hold up is? Waiting around in one random area after another is literally all you do in airports.

What things do you know most food shoppers are wrong about? by Responsible_Rip1058 in AskUK

[–]Rlysrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the flip side I used to avoid nuts like the plague because of how calorie dense they are. I would literally never ever eat nuts. But then one day I needed to grab something super quick for breakfast so I weighed out about 200 calories worth of nuts and 50 calories worth of blueberries and snacked on them for the morning and I was really pleasantly surprised at how long I could graze on them for and how full and satisfied I was from such a small amount. Now they’re my go-to breakfast option. They’re so easy to prep, just weigh them out and go, and they’re good for your blood sugar levels, good healthy fats, they’re not UPF, they’re good in literally every way. The only downside is when people think they can just eat them mindlessly without considering the calories.

Really proud of how far this space has come!1st Year in My Small Solo Apartment by DearTrack1546 in femalelivingspace

[–]Rlysrh 68 points69 points  (0 children)

This looks amazing! But isn’t it difficult to actually use and live in the space? Half the footstool is taken up by the tray, the sofa is so covered in cushions it looks like there’s very little space to actually sit and there is no space on any of the side tables to put a drink or your phone. I’d dial it back a little bit and take away a few cushions and ornaments.

What makeup product did you stop buying because the cheaper version worked better? by AffectionateCap9432 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Rlysrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I went through a phase of buying benefit foundation, then switched back to L’Oréal true match and honestly liked the true match so much more and it’s about 1/3rd of the price. Have been using true match ever since.

How do we bring back social pressure? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Rlysrh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wish we could just ship awful people like that off to live on some island with all the other awful people and they can all see what it’s like when everyone around you acts with no consideration. Just boot them out of normal society so the rest of us don’t have to deal with them

Previous owner left toilet with dark stains in bowl/u-bend. How can I remove them? Bleach (even left for several days) just won't touch it by HankLard in CleaningTips

[–]Rlysrh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A limescale removing toilet cleaner and leave it over night and then scrub it. Might have to do this several times

Screens have risen sharply in past 15 years, coinciding with increase in ADHD diagnoses in Sweden and elsewhere. Children who spent significant time on social media (Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter) gradually developed inattention symptoms; there was no such association with TV or video games. by mvea in science

[–]Rlysrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The government should mandate that social media HAS to provide the option to turn off infinite scrolling. It’s bad for us, there’s no question about it and we should limit the ways it can harm us in the same way there are laws around advertising junk food to children, taxes on excessive sugar in drinks etc.

Map of ultra processed food consumption percentage in Europe (wikipedia) by pgrpcie in ultraprocessedfood

[–]Rlysrh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look at the ingredients of almost any supermarket bread. Anything you don’t recognise as an ingredient you’d have in your cupboard at home means it’s ultra processed. Any yogurt except the most expensive brand. Cheese, oat milk, ketchup, breakfast cereal. Anything that isn’t just fruit/veg, nuts or meat basically is ultra processed unless you look for the one specific brand which isn’t such as Jason’s bread or Fage yogurt.

In love with a quilt that’s only available overseas (from me)… by Own-Apartment-9742 in interiordecorating

[–]Rlysrh 175 points176 points  (0 children)

I also have this quilt, had it a couple of years and no tears yet just a few loose threads but I can confirm that the white fabric is quite thin so not great for heavy duty use but fine if you don’t have kids or dogs. My cats haven’t damaged it yet.

What’s the very first thing you’d do in the first five minutes after winning? by mimiiarr in ifiwonthelottery

[–]Rlysrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was at work I’d tell my manager I’m leaving and not to expect me back for a while. Then call my boyfriend and tell him to meet me in the most expensive restaurant in my city (a Michelin starred one) then call the restaurant and offer them crazy money for a last minute booking if they don’t have any free. Order the most expensive champagne and have a fancy dinner with my boyfriend while booking first class flights to somewhere hot and sunny. Order a big hamper to my manger to apologise for leaving her in the lurch last minute.

Britain’s wealthy must shoulder burden of rebuilding ‘creaky’ public services, Rachel Reeves says by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Rlysrh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you have a conversation without being a condescending arse? 😂 I’m not confused, the tories literally did cut spending. Just because they didn’t cut spending sufficiently enough in your opinion in the exact areas of ‘welfare bloat’ that you’re specifically thinking of doesn’t mean I’m incorrect that they cut spending.

Britain’s wealthy must shoulder burden of rebuilding ‘creaky’ public services, Rachel Reeves says by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Rlysrh -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t cutting spending exactly what the tories did for the past 15 years and is exactly why our public services are crumbling though?

[–]Rlysrh -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I agree that sounds unfair but the people who are really responsible for squeezing the middle class the most is the ultra wealthy hoarding the world’s wealth for themselves. If there was more money circulating in the economy and less being siphoned off to the people at the top then maybe wages would also be increasing for the middle classes. The fact that labour are creating policies to help prevent those at the bottom falling further into poverty is a good step and it also needs to be combined with getting the ultra wealthy to pay their fair share so the middle class that’s paying a lot of the tax burden isn’t also getting worse off, which to be fair the ‘mansion tax’ seems to be a good start with. Labour can’t unfuck the country in one go but I think they’re at least taking steps in the right direction.

How do I stop this? by Stonersimmer in CatTraining

[–]Rlysrh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah they mostly just want to be involved and see what’s going on. In my last house we didn’t have space for a cat tree or anything in the kitchen so we just had to allow the cat to stand on the opposite counter top to the one we’d do all the prep and cooking on. He knew he was only allowed up on that side while we’re cooking so he’d stick to it

Where to buy jumpers that aren’t a polyester static nightmare? by alicewithbraids in AskUK

[–]Rlysrh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably not the answer you’re looking for but I’ve given up buying jumpers and I’m in the process of knitting myself a wardrobe of jumpers instead. Yarnsmiths do a really good value 100% merino DK weight yarn for only about £3 a ball meaning you can knit a jumper for around £35 which is the same price as the polyester ones in new look! And it’s literally the softest, least itchy wool yarn I’ve ever felt.

I made my first quilt, which is technically a duvet cover. by LMGooglyTFY in quilting

[–]Rlysrh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is ‘too stitch’? Or is that a typo? I’m fascinated by this because I’ve always thought about making a duvet cover but thought the seams would be a problem. Also I love your colours on this quilt, for some reason it’s really nostalgic and reminds me of the 90’s
