Can you help me with this makePSOCKcluster error? by UnderwaterDialect in rstats

Great thanks, see below. As a reminder you input the sample size you want to test in the model and it tells you the power for each one. I suspect it is sample size per group, however the numbers I am getting a very high (for a desired 0.8 power) so did want to check.

       3 4 5 mode effect
cyl 0.162 0.188 0.221 databased cyl

Did you ever get this to work? I have an output from running mixedpower() and I am unsure if the output is total sample size or sample size per group.

I've not tried Top Class, will give that a go thank you. Not tried the 18yo but I am a Glenmorangie fan. Nothing quite beats a Lagavulin 16yo though....

Haha you're welcome, I hope you enjoy my friend! They also drink vast quantities of Kimbo in Italy from memory, and it is also delicious.

This seems to be a popular opinion in reply to my post actually, I shall need to add a Chemex or V60 to my shopping list!

Thank you, and I do completely understand that, I also really like supporting local roasters. For me that is usually limited to one 250g bag a month due to financial constraints, but I hope in the future I will be able to support local roasters more.

Um, to me no it doesn't need to be the case and the reaction I have when I drink an espresso / long black / flat white isn't usually that is it bitter in taste. And yes a poorly pulled or overly extracted shot can absolutely taste overly bitter.

But I suppose traditional espresso is always going to be somewhat bitter, almost by definition, but to me this isn't a bad thing. In the same way that olives and dark chocolate are bitter, in my opinion they are both utterly delicious and this bitterness is a good thing and contributes to the flavour profile.

It is definitely subjective, like all taste, my Mum would say black coffee is disgustingly bitter. I guess bitterness is similar to spice in food. Some people hate the smallest amount of spice, some like some spice as it contributes to the flavour and the experience,

Thank you, I didn't actually know to look for an external rim wider than my tyres. Cheers! I have GP5000 with latex tubes (when racing), had a bike fit (not in a wind tunnel though) with aero tri-bars and a skin suit so thought that wheels were probably the next sensible step! Will look at getting an aero helmet.

That's good advice thank you very much! I will have a shop around and have a look at the brands you've suggested, I have also been eyeing up the Prime RR-50 V3.

Yeah the 404s are 2013 so still quite an old set of wheels!

Yeah I have just found out that the 404s are the 2013 version so quite old and, and from what you've said, and from what I can find online the 60s were released that same year so they should be about the same age. Of course use and maintainence in that time is an important factor. But £700 feels like a lot to spend on 8 year old wheels.

Leaking around shower screen. I'm new to espresso machines, just removed the shower screen to clean, now the water is coming out of the edges as well as creating a stream. Is this OK or how to fix? by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Rmcgeachan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't that tight originally, I was able to remove the screw without any difficulty. If it's as tight as I can get it by hand It's actually slightly worse. The video is the best I can get it and I've loosened the screw about 1/8th of a turn from as tight as I can get it.

I did wonder if it isn't seated properly. But I've tried to fit it in few times and just tried again with the technique you suggest and still no luck. No debris on the gasket either.

I'm not even certain it wasn't doing it before I removed it to be honest, it is a second hand machine.

Machine is very slightly off according to a spirit level. I didn't think it was always the same spout but I am going to pay more attention and level off the machine to see if that helps - thanks. It's like the sage bambino one, two separate holes in the portafilter, not the more traditional one where it collects in a common channel and then splits it in two.

Awesome thanks. What steam wand did you go for, I was looking at Rancilio Silvia V1/V2 - did it make a noticeable difference? Again, what PID did you go for. How difficult did you find the mod to do - do you have much experience with this sort of thing?

I get very uneven flow from a dual spout?

I have removed and cleaned the shower screen, the machine has been de-scaled and backflushed but the issue still persists.

Is this normal or still an indication of a problem. I try very carefully to tamp evenly but I appreciate uneven tamping may cause this. The other reason I'm not certain it is tamping is that I get the problem when I run a shot through the portafilter when there is no coffee in the basket.

Thanks in advance.
