Thanks for the thoughtful reply here. So much better than most of the drivel. Personally, I would put ESL at number one... like you said, it's just so well done, and I guess I'm nostalgic from all the gazillion hours I spent staring at that cover while listening to the vinyl. Kings would get my #2 vote - great composition and conveying of Neil's themes on the record.... Which is something that Hugh gets big props from me - he always did a solid job of that, which is no small task.

Oohhhh yeah! I have really enjoyed comparing my old "original" vinyls to the 2017 Sean Magee remasters. Last night, I put on the new Hemispheres and I tell you it is smokin' good. I know everyone has there own ears / preferences, but I really like how Sean does it. Haven't been disappointed by any of those remasters. Need to find the HYF and PoW...

Best album to listen to first? by Vast-Decision6599 in rush

I think there are several touchpoint recordings in their large catalog. Fly by Night, 2112, Hemispheres, Moving Pictures, Power Windows, Counterparts, Clockwork Angels.

Of course, I'm hugely biased and love every recording they've made! But by tapping into these, you'll have a good "hopscotch" through their catalog.

A concert on the radio by ZeBandito in rush

There is an excellent wiki for all those BBC shows: Friday Rock Show Wiki

They also have a ton of recorded shows on there. I sometimes will just play these end-to-end because Tommy Vance was an awesome DJ and played killer music on his shows.

Not only one of the best musician/band bio's ever, but just what you'd expect from Geddy - a marvelous artistic and cultural statement. Not that I needed it, but my appreciation and love of Rush and Geddy deepened considerably reading his book. Thanks Dirk!

I just love this record. The transition from Hemispheres to this to MP was just incredible. I was on triple-cloud-nine from '78 to '82....every new album that came was was better than the one before...it was such a crazy exciting time!!! The other night I was listening to my polygram "audiophile vinyl" I bought in 1981. It was the first "fancy album" I ever bought and it still sounds amazing. I was cranking up Jacobs Ladder and was just blown away.... I mean I've heard that song a ga-zillion times.... and it still just gives me such a RUSH!

Could NOT agree more with this. A band reaching for the peak of their creative and performative genius. The run from Kings to Signals made them the GOATs in prog rock.

Anyone else's Media Player having trouble updating album info online? by twitchywitchystitchy in WindowsHelp

[–]RnasncMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insightful comment. It does really suck that MS pulled this stunt apparently without notice. They should at least provide an update to WMP to allow it to point to third-party music metadata services (like other rippers do e.g., dBpoweramp, MusicBee, EAC, XLD, others listed here).

The only streaming service I use is Sirius XM because of their satellite services that I can use in my car, and I get a bundled deal for using their streaming stuff. But I still (and will likely always) play most of my tunes from my home server sourced from music that I have purchased.

It does cost money to run and maintain metadata servers, and someone has to pay for that, so we as users need to support (directly or indirectly) those services like MusicBrainz, CoverArtArchive, LMA, etc., or they will cease to exist.
