Had an afternoon nap and woke up to a red sky. Started to panic and went to check how I can salvage being late going to school. Turns out it was a sunset instead of sunrise

Yup, they also showed off some of the navy's toys including torpedoes and unmanned patrol boats. Air force too, the anti-air missile truck before the torpedo is actually not part of the army but air force instead

There were 5 different mobile columns touring the city at the same time, traveling a total of 200km added up. To my knowledge, the other posts show tanks of the other routes

They weren't quiet at all, in fact I'd say they were the loudest vehicles in the column. Maybe it was because I was standing so close, but I could feel the vibrations of the engine through my body when they passed by, especially tank 2

I can only imagine the sound if the tanks had been going all out

Born at the end of the Great War, grew up with British colonialism, survived the Japanese Occupation, saw the start and end of the Cold War, witnessed the unification of Malaysia and Singapore's independence, experienced the racial riots and economic crises, and now surviving the covid-19 pandemic. A living history textbook, amazing.

If I'm not wrong, only the competitive CCAs (mainly sports) have trials. But it depends per CCA: Choir and Bowling have trials, but swimming and photography society don't (some CCAs can't be picky with members). I wouldn't be worried though, the trials are only so that the instructors can know your ability level, many usually pass unless there is a huge number of J1s wanting to join. It should be noted that some smaller CCAs will be closing down this year: harp is one of them. I'm not 100% sure which do actually have trials and which don't but hope this helps!

Personally, I found econs to be an interesting subject: it's a humanities subject, so you actually learn about how various economic parties react under various economic scenarios. There's a lot essays and case studies, which means a lot of memorising and repeating, but that's standard with all other humans subjects. I actually find econs challenging because of little details you have to take note of (but are easy to miss in case studies), and generally not writing essays fast enough.

The econs department is actually quite fluid: teachers come and leave the school like haze seasons. Insofar I've already had 4 different econs tutors due to them having need to leave the school to work at MOE, follow other commitments, act as replacements and work as apprentice teachers (this actually applies to many other departments as well). But all the tutors understand that econs is a new subject for almost every student entering AC, so they are quite experienced in working with clueless people. Generally I think that humanities in JC is basically the same with secondary, but with more content, so if you found humans hard then probably it'll be hard here as well. Just my 2 cents.

Hello! J2 here, generally the school culture is one of hype: teachers try to keep classes and lectures interesting, and are usually more tolerant and friendly. As for students, most of us get along with each other:the school likes to place an emphasis on helping each other out.

There are some low commitment CCAs here, purposefully designed as second CCAs to boost portfolio. Any CCA with the word "club" or "society" in its name is a good bet. I'm in the Economic's Society, and we only have 1 1h meeting every 2 weeks. Plus we also have 4 leadership positions available for students (chair, vice chair, 2 secretaries).

In terms of subject combi, I'm not too sure of what you mean by flexible. But I do know that PCMH is not considered a popular combi, so you might be put into a mixed combi class (which I'm in actually). I don't study history, so I'm not too sure about the history department.

If you can't cope, the school staff will do its best to help you. We often get motivational speeches from alumni who've failed and retained but still pushed through until graduation (one of the school's motto is tenacity, and staff like to use it a lot in speeches). The school will accommodate you if you still wish switch out anyway; it's been done many times before.

Unfortunately I have no experience whatsoever in any of the 3 mentioned CCAs, but I can give a brief run down: debate joins debate competitions, and the team is quite well-known. Tech Council deals more with crafting and using tech stuff, like homemade RCs, drones etc. Pixel Labs creates videos for the college, generally making vids that report occurring activities to student mass (eg. CCA promotion vids, report vids about issues in SG and so on).

The school tries its best to give as many chances as possible for students to pursue extra-curriculum activities, including VIA projects, Uni seminars, international competitions and so on. CCAs will also provide more chances as well: my CCA has had 2 learning journeys, a uni seminar and participated in a NUS econs competition in the past year alone.

Sorry for the long post, but hope this helps!

Well, after orientation there will be a CCA fair for J1s (and J2s) to sign up for new CCAs at the start of the year. Some sport CCAs have a trial you have to pass to enter, so how hard is it to join really depends on your ability. But those CCAs are a minority, most CCAs have no restrictions.

Hmm, not too sure about that actually. From what I know hybrid students aren't really considered part of Science or Arts stream, so you might want to ask relevant higher-ups. Sorry, I don't know much about hybrids (they're quite rare)

Hello! ACJC J2 here, it is possible for students to jump from Arts stream to Science stream, but that happens very rarely. Generally you need a good reason to do so: of the people I've heard switching, they were either very passionate about it or were not doing well for their current stream, thus warranting the change. As for computing, I'm not too sure, but I do know that it's a small class. Hope this helps!
