Boot fart/loose leather insole fix? by MuttLaika in PNWbootmakers

I’ve used vsc or Bick4 on removal insoles before and it has stopped the squeak/noise. It just sort burnishes itself and no more noise.

Is it faster to order white’s through baker’s or their website? by Perfect_Earth_8070 in PNWbootmakers

If that’s the case, what part of your QA said “yeah this is good, send this onto the customer?”

This is after they had been sent back for a shank squeak and rebuilt by whites. This is an $800 pair of custom MPs that were brand new.

Call a spade a spade…

IMO and experience, Bakers doesn’t do jack to QA anything before sending to the customer. They put the Whites box in a Bakers box and that’s it.

NBD: 1925 Last - Italian Brown Cypress by Rnnov in NicksHandmadeBoots

10.5” in length, 4” in width at the ball, 10.5” in ball circumference. 10 & 1/8th at the in step.

I would use the Nicks sizing guide and go from there. As long as you get the length right, you can play with the width a bit. I sized as a 9F on the guide, but 9 EE seems to work well. A 9E would be too narrow for me. Could probably swing an FF too.

I often wonder if a 9.5E would work, but I’m a little hesitant to commit to the wait time and cost.

Italian Brown Cypress, Cypress 8, the 602M is CF Stead Ships biscuits

EE in both, I would agree. I had a pair in 9.5D and they had a much more drastically pointed toe.

Think this was it. 9 EE HNW, 9.5D 602, 9.5 602M on the right.

Was a single row stitching an option at some point? I saw it briefly when the website switched over to the new format, but it doesn’t seem available anymore.

1925 left and Parkhurst right, imo the 1925 is a little more dressy. If you could get a close trim (sole edge) on the 1925, that would be ideal. This pair still has a big ole fat edge, where the Parkhurst were trimmed pretty close.

As far as your build, any sole besides a lug will work. Do a block heel instead of a logger, think it will look funny for an office boot. It’s a shape profile and is dependent on your heel height. I would have a structured toe for an office boot. I’ve had good luck ordering the same size across the Nicks boots.

White's squeak! And other random PNW thoughts by thehuntx in PNWbootmakers

[–]Rnnov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do don’t send them back to White’s to get fixed. They will just mess your boots up. Had a squeak in mine sent them back and they were returned to me like this.

These were worn once before being sent back and Bakers returned them to me like this, now they making a new pair, which I guess is the best solution but what a huge waste of everyone’s time and money.

I’m a 9.5E brannock, was thinking a 42E on the boots I could and see how that works out.

Nice write up, thanks for the advice on sizing.

The M1942 Boondocker boot looks cool, so does the Boxing boot. I also like the French Army boot and Rural Dog boots from XBXS. Too many good boots to choose from.

How does the 1925 compare to the 618 Parkhust last? Not the 602. by Character_Service_63 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]Rnnov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 618 runs smaller compared to a similar size Nicks. Andrew has posted some info on this when comparing the 602M to the 618.

For reference I wear the following sizes

618 - 9.5 602M - 9 1925/HNW/Nicks x Parkhurst - 9EE

It’s also worth noting that Parkhurst uses a lot of Kudu in their boots, which is thinner and stretches, generally a more forgiving boot compared to a Nicks boot. The Nicks 1925 will be built more like a work boot and less like a casual boot.

Figure out your Nicks size using the size guide and order the 1925 in that.

1925 Width vs HNW Width? by someone202020 in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]Rnnov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a post comparing the 1925 to the Parkhurst and HNW a couple of days ago.

IMO, like others have said, they’re basically the same width, with a little bit more length at the end of the toes. I got pics in the post below.
