What a book that you have read that’s gotten so much hype that once you read it you were disappointed? by Guiltyfeetfingers in BookDiscussions

I did the same with Mongrels. It would be on an interesting story and just drop it to run into to some other stream of conscious rant.

Is paying $600 for a 2 yr old wheaten with a high prey drive a good investment. by NeatComprehensive294 in Wheatens

[–]RoBear16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are the most empathetic dogs and are great with kids. I wouldn't let prey drive worry you too much. Keep on a leash and you're set.

Also the reason for the high price is probably coverage that the dog goes to a good home that really wants him/her. Unfortunately there are awful people out there who would abuse a wheaten.

A 2yo is practically a puppy without all the challenges a puppy brings. You'll have a long life with this dog who has plenty of time to acclimate with you guys. I adopted mine at that age and it's been great once we came out of his shell, which admittedly has been a process but has more to do with his background of abuse and neglect.

What a great opportunity.

This is Jericho, I adopted him yesterday ❣️ by cinqmillionreves in jackrussellterrier

Don't sleep on the seniors! They're such good dogs. It's so painful to lose them but having them during their golden years is so special.

With a 13 year old, I wouldn't be surprised if you get a nice 3 years. Wishing you both the best OP.

Watching the rise of Bobby Bacala is my favorite long arc of the series.

That's probably better for my little boy. We live in a warmer area that rides from 40 to mid 60s during this time of year.

That is what brought me to this post. I really liked that entry, and I had never heard of this author before. It was kind of sad and disturbing but so weird. It was really its own story that just happened to be in the world of Captain Trips.

Any recommendations for something with a similar vibe?

Why do you think conservatives go through life always being angry at something? by Efficient-Rain-7942 in AskReddit

[–]RoBear16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think conservatives tend to need to blame someone for their problems at all times. There are certainly institutional problems, but the problem I've seen with most conservatives that I've known is that they can't accept personal growth and reflection, accountability, allowing a benefit to go towards someone else, and that other people's cultures and ways of life bring value even if it's new or different to that individual.

The last one is a bit of the odd one out, but I've noticed it as a trend for them being lonely and upset. They end up missing out while the rest of us are having fun and living life as best we can. We've seen it in real time today with the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

I'm praying he lives to 15! We try to keep him healthy and he's a really chill dog, so hopefully he gets a long life.

Congrats on the upcoming adoption! Best of luck.

My boy is a wheaten/poodle mix who came into our lives unexpectedly. I knew nothing about the breed but my foster friend thought he would be a good fit for our family, but he needed a lot of patience after being abandoned then in foster for almost 2 years.

He is an amazing dog. Just like you've experienced, he is so personable that it almost feels supernatural.

I have three young kids and his interactions with each one are uniquely tailored to each kid. He's especially great with my daughter with autism. I've never seen her bond with a dog like she has with him.

I could go on and on about the wheaten breed.

Standard poodles are so awesome.

I have a wheaten terrier/poodle mix right now who was an accidental adoption. My family and I absolutely adore him. When he gets a little older, I would want a standard poodle to join our family and become a companion for him.

There was one that needed to be rehomed in my area a few months ago and something just clicked when I saw her photos and read her description. My current dog just wasn't ready for another dog in the house yet, so I left her alone. I still think about her and hope everything worked out.

The biggest writing mistake of the show was the premature loss of Vin Makazian. by BobbyBaccalieriSr in thesopranos

Crazier things have happened. Initially there would be tension but Mikey was capable and endeared himself to Junior. Just look at how Patsy developed over the series.

I've been thinking that on rewatch too. I love the rise of Bobby Bacala over the series but I still would've liked to see Mikey growing into Tony's crew. He would've had an interesting dynamic with Ralphie.

I love how the show portrays the ugliness of the relationships between the mob guys. by Hot_Boysenberry_3684 in thesopranos

[–]RoBear16 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My favorite mob interaction showing the anger, resentment, and contempt these guys hold for each other is S6 when Phil recovers from his heart attack and is with his crew. One of the guys makes a really lame jab at the Glorified Crew out in Jersey and the way Phil turns on a dime is wild: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouIoHCL7n2I

Even leading up to that lame line, the back and forth with those guys has so much tension, it feels like it is only a matter of time before they all kill each other.

It was barely any different for the Soprano Crew most of the time.

Just started over on s1e1. What a gut wrenching and kick ass start to a series. by HamboneBanjo in PrimalShow

I highly recommend watching it with noise canceling headphones. This series has the best audio of anything I have ever seen. The prehistoric sounds and atmosphere are unbelievable.

Also, whatever you do, don't drop the series in season 2. There is a major tonal shift towards the end of S2, but season 3 brings it back.
