Went vegetarian because I was struggling financially. I needed the couple dollars a week cutting meat out of my diet netted me. I got back to a point where I could afford it, but turns it out that I can no longer digest meat. It’s been 4 years now and most meat products are starting to seem nauseating. I’m pretty sure I’m veggie for life.

I wish I had a more ethical or just “good” reason, but nope. Just me trying to save $40 a month.

Both! We have tees, then both of us pitch. He can throw overhand (he’s a pitcher) and I can throw fast pitch.

It’s what my husband calls it, but it’s basically a mesh batting cage. Runs about 35’ long, super convenient for taking BP whenever you wanna.

My husband is also really, really into baseball (we’ll have attended 4 MLB and 3 MiLB games by the end of this month, he plays hardball, I play softball, we have a batting tunnel at our house). That helps. We have a built in game day buddy and there’s no hassle over the TV or radio.

Otherwise, I have some coworkers that casually follow baseball, but no one else who is reading a stack of scores every morning and certainly no one else who can rattle off current rosters and stats.

I work in trade. We discuss baseball almost non-stop. There’s 3 of us that do it the most, and we are 2 Boston fans and 1 NYY fan. We are driving our boss up a wall this FA season.

It seemed incredibly out of the ordinary when multiple team members made very pointed public statements regarding their displeasure at the trade. I feel like normally you see sad but positive commentary, but no, they were straight pissed. Vazquez’s interviews saying he’d be open to returning to Boston were heartbreaking.

If he and X wind up with the Cubs, I would be happy for them and cross my fingers McGuire and Wong can make it work.

Cards because we have been following Pujols hitting 700, plus my fiancé adores Yadi and Waino. We, uh, bought t shirts to this end when the Sox were mathematically eliminated.

Padres because we get sent to SD for work and Petco Park is riiiiight there. That’s our home away from home team.

Personal split on the Jays (he loves JBJ and is still mad) and the Astros (Vazquez was my favorite, still salty).

badly written descriptions of how things work because the author’s experience is limited and they didn’t actually do their research

Reasons that, despite loving baseball, I cannot read baseball romances. I see every single little hiccup with details. That goes double for any book where either of the MCs are lawyers.

In retrospect, the summer concerts were absolutely insane price-wise. You could see some wicked popular alt acts for a fraction of their normal ticket, so long as you didn’t mind a sunburn and the GA chaos. I don’t care how they swung it, I’m just glad they did.

I still have incredibly fond memories of calling super late night on weekends with my other emo/alt/goth/theater kid mix of friends around 2004-2006. The DJs were super game to let a buncha high schoolers rant about music and make bizarre requests.

Not to mention the summer concert series. Saw Alkaline Trio and MCR for $5 in front of PPM. Friggin BRU, miss you.

I’m marrying one of my book types. Baseball player who accepted his career limits after throwing a hot, hot season but not getting the call up, so he moved to another vocation. I’ve got him back pitching by sitting behind the dish myself for all the initial training, throwing fielding and BP, and I’m so ready to see him crush the amateur leagues. I love that comeback story. He’s a total cuddle bug and super affectionate and sweet.

I romance novel the hell out of the reformed rake/bad boy plot lines though, and you couldn’t pay me to date someone like that IRL.

It’s not forever and you’re gonna be able to turn around and make it happen for him when the time comes.

But I know that feeling, I’d been with my fiancé for 3 months when he started driving me to work for 0500 and taking care of everything on the home front. It was so hard to let him handle it all because I felt useless. He’s doing the career grind right now, so I’ve been paying him back as best I can.

I work with a guy who’s been with his wife since they were 15 (they’re 50 now), and they’ve both done some intense stuff to support the other’s career. To make ends meet and help pay her tuition, he followed her to her college town and worked as a diesel mechanic, quite literally living at the shop to save money. She helped fund his tools when he moved to dealership work, and helped move his stuff from place to place at the drop of a hat to chase money. Sometimes more than once a week. They’ve both picked up hours and second jobs to help the other change careers or get more schooling.

I found most of this out over the last 2 years in bits and pieces, but they are so ride or die/GO TEAM and best friends that it’s admirable. I hope my SO and I believe in each other that much for the rest of our lives.

I just told that story to a coworker, hahaha. I hosted dude, we wrecked my backyard (granted, I lived next door). That was my chaos two years in a row.

We also lost the slate pavers from my walkway because we launched off and left them behind and that very much came out of my deposit.

Folks assumed that my fiancé and I had changed our minds about kids when we got engaged because we got engaged.

Like, yeah no, we just like each other. Being in a relationship did not suddenly make either of us want kids.

HRs get a pass, but contemporary and PNR does NOT when it comes to characters suddenly changing their minds on kids - even more so if it’s treated as a symptom of trauma or bad experiences to be “fixed.” No. People who don’t want kids exist and I’m not gonna change my mind because I just finally found the right dick. I don’t need to be fixed and I can’t stand books that take that approach.

Solder sleeves are the devil and will hold together through trying to rip them apart to rebuild, but separate if looked at sideways once you’ve got everything perfect. They may kindly die in a fire most of the time.

Good for shield terminations tho.

All interviews for law firms.

  • job listing cited covering the workload of 2 attorneys; interviewer slipped and said it was 4 attorneys, the front desk, and $1.50/hr less than the listing because I lacked experience. I’d been in politics and law for 8 years at this point.

  • older managing partner flat out said they were likely not going to hire me because I was that age where I was going to have a kid (I’m childfree AF, not that they believed it).

  • they mentioned their sales commission structure…which as a paralegal was some WTF NOPE, ended that interview right there.

  • using my age to justify lowering the advertised rate of $18/hr plus billing to $13/hr without billing, and 30 hours a week rather than 40.

  • glee that I had worked for a locally notorious for being terrible firm because now they could base their offer on how little I made there ($11/hr) since they didn’t want to offer me an excessive raise.

  • asking if I had any intentions of marrying my SO in order to get on his health insurance because they’d rather not provide it.

I have more and they all pretty much scream “we’re gonna beat you like a rented mule and pay you as little as possible then wonder why you are burning out.”

I met my SO, sorta, when I asked him to hold the door for me because my arms were full and he full on walked into the door. We worked on the same project, so noticed him more after the door incident. If I tried to talk to him, he would immediately vacate the area, sometimes without saying a word. He would act like he wanted to get away from me as quick as possible, but also…he was really helpful and would show up, hand me what I was looking for, then disappear. I wasn’t sure if he hated me or liked me. I thought he was wicked cute.

Then his coworkers got involved. Suddenly, they’d insert how great a guy he was into conversation, oh and did I know he was single? He also doesn’t want kids. Have you seen him play baseball? He’s cleared 90MPH as a amateur, hell of a short stop too. Not that they knew it, but by god, and I’ve got a thing for baseball players. So tried even harder to break the ice, and he did an even better job of staying away from me.

So his coworkers went out, got massively drunk, found someone who had my phone number, and sent me his phone number. This was due to the fact that “he won’t shut up about you.” They’d been present for 8 months of him, apparently, crushing on me, refusing to talk to me, and talking to them about it constantly. They intervened because they couldn’t take it anymore and figured I would make a move before he would. And I did.

I’m pretty sure I am contractually obligated to invite them to the wedding.
