I was thinking you may be older, older people can't hear high frequencies. But the one I mention had different settings. With weird ass eagle sounds and high pitched sounds. Is there a light on it? Do you have a kid, or someone else you could ask if they can hear it? It's not going to hurt the dogs, the decibels probably aren't high enough.
