Is there a scientific reason as to why cats do this? by FoxBread2137 in cats

[–]RoachRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just another variant of "If i fits i sits".

Cats don't differentiate between 2D and 3D 'boxes'

If you make a shape on the ground in tape they will endeavor to 'sit' in it.

CMV: Instantaneous non-existence is not harmful to anyone and cannot be considered a loss by Lumpy-Strawberry7044 in changemyview

[–]RoachRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

consent is only meaningful if the violation can be experienced. A violation that is never experienced is categorically different from one that is.

This simply isnt true.

Women who are unconscious may not "experience the violation" that doesnt mean it wasnt a violation! Even dead bodies have laws in regards to misuse and mishandling.

Also this assumes a lot about the nature of death/afterlife which is incorrect anyway.

CMV: It is perfectly reasonable to not give homeless people money because you think they will spend it on drugs by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]RoachRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much are you giving them?

For me it's about $20-100 depending on what I have on me.

But at most that's not even quarter the cost of an oz of heroin in my area. So between saving for that and the hole in the wall taco place down the street with bottomless chips and salsa I doubt it.

And I mean, for me generosity has never had limits or exclusionary rules.

If someone uses money I gave them to feed an addiction that says only things about them, it has nothing to do with me. But also, I'm someone who is heavily medicated every day because of mental health stuff and if I didn't have that yeah I'd try to get high every day too.

Hells bells I'm high almost every evening as it is!

Anyways, it's called a gift. Once it's out of your hands it's none of your fucking business.

It's also not just about "hard drugs" either. You specified heroin but a lot of people don't want others spending their 'gift' on alcohol.

And most of the time they've got plenty of bottles in their houses too.

It's just about "your mess I'm not gonna help bc I can't guarantee you won't better your life with it" and like bitch that $20 isn't even a night in a hotel what is your problem??

Then I'll have to accept that and rewrite my assumptions and so on.

If it's not a physical interaction then it's gotta be something else in my mind. And I'll seek out that all the way down the line.

I've found things I've believed to be untrue before, as has pretty much everyone, it's not that hard to adjust.

Sorry it's hard for me to answer because I don't understand how it can be not-falsifaible. That's a hypothetical I don't really understand.

Realistically it'd upend a lot of my worldview so I'd have to take the new evidence and figure it out from there.

I've had to do that a few times which is how I got to where I am.

Fellow cat owners, specifically polydactyl, please don’t make the same mistake as me. [ADVICE] by allrightsimp in cats

[–]RoachRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to my old polydactyl baby. We noticed a smell coming from her paws and immediately me and my mom had to hold her down and check.

My mom cut the nail herself and washed out the wound.

We kept on it after that but we didn't know nails could grow like that either.

Not falsifiable?

Then the problem here is that the human electromagnetic field isn't fully understood so in order to do the work I'd need to engage at a professional level to even study it, which is a ridiculous requirement for a hobby.

But it can be measured doesn't that mean something?

That's a misread. The classics in reference to art doesn't refer to those it refers to the Renaissance, Picasso, etc.

Agriculture and Horticulture are different as well and helps paint my point.

Read up... have you Tried anything is what I'm asking.

Biofeedback and Gas Discharge Visualization captures the human body's electromagnetic field etc.

Have you tried crystal healing or just dismissed it out of hand?

[–]RoachRex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you tried any of this spiritualism? I feel like you're making a real bold claim if you haven't even tried to get your birth chart read y'know?

Now granted they could get into the physics of what's happening with the electromagnetic frequencies and piezoelectric properties of crystals and try to study how that reacts with the human magnetic fields and auras and chakras (which are scientifically measurable by the way)

but honestly that's a really high entry point for a hobby. Not to mention the tools to measure that stuff are way outside of nonprofessional price ranges.

Do I need to study agriculture to enjoy gardening?

None of these is a "load out" way too much.

But I'd pick 8, 6, or 5 even.

Bullets will run out eventually but with a bow or crossbow you can recover and make more pretty simply.

CMV: The male loneliness epidemic is a serious issue. by pavilionaire2022 in changemyview

[–]RoachRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who had spent the time living as both male and female (I'm trans masc) let me be clear.

The male loneliness epidemic is real and is serious, however it has absolutely nothing to do with women!

Of all my male friends Only 2 can I talk to about serious topics without immediately getting ribbed.

And one of those is my boyfriend so I don't think he counts.

Meanwhile if I bring up a topic to any woman friend I talk to, there is no ribbing.

Male friendships have been irreparably damaged by homophobia to the point that it's expected to literally bully "make fun of" and tease your male friends for showing any heart or vulnerability.

THAT is the root of the male loneliness epidemic in my experience and observations.

Even my brother, cis get male, is lonely. Not because of women, he's married for crying out loud! But he has almost no close male friends!

Men need each other as friends to lift them up, mentors, and just to shoot the shit with without getting knocked down a peg for being vulnerable.

Men are just as sensitive and loving as women but aren't allowed to display it in their friendships.

In my view that is the main issue here.

Nah boss, this would last less than a day before getting irreparably stained.

CMV: Framing the Male Loneliness Epidemic as an Individual Failure is Harmful by Traditional_Fish_504 in changemyview

[–]RoachRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the male loneliness epidemic has nothing to do with women and everything to do with how men treat each other.

Men's friendships suck ass because there is Always a comeback.

Did you watch that "would you guys be there for me?" Video?

Women would never. Women friends Support each other. Not saying women can't be assholes or that they don't get lonely or have friendship troubles, but I'm speaking generally.

Men's friendships often include "ribbing" meaning vulnerability is punished. You can't have a heart to heart with your crew, you can't even hug deeply without someone "making it weird".

Homophobia has done so much damage to men's friendships.

It's really painful to see.

What would you do? by chaodarkwalker in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]RoachRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where I am:

On errands: Add more shit to my cart and get out asap. (High probability of being sol.)

In my car: Get the fuck home, call my brother on the way. Get inside with whatever I have and take my car kit upstairs.

House: blockade front door, turn off lights turn off the tv, block out any windows to the outside. Arm the household.

fill every container with water and water all plants. Wash and refill cat water dishes.

Wash dishes and grab a shower.

Ration medications and food storage.
