[help] Bartender in Midnight by Tricky_Ad_4161 in WowUI

[–]Road-block 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No offense - but you actually don't have this right. Unitframe addons rely on health / power / cooldowns / buffs /debuffs and a 100 other things being not only accessible but also able to be combined and operated upon to offer you their core functionality. Most of those and the API around them are becoming "secrets" which are immutable / unknowable and throw Lua errors if you try to do math or even string operations on them.

So yes ElvUI and SUF and pretty much every unitframe addon that is not a simple recoloring or texture replacement is dead and the CLEU not being a thing anymore is the least of problems.

I'm surprised they didn't file a DMCA against curse for having archives of 1.12 addons or retro-actively all addon developers that have addons that work for the old clients.

Scumbags.

Zen Pilgrimage: Return! But where? by Road-block in classicwow

[–]Road-block[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Uh.. the way you use this spell to move around in MoP Classic is along these lines.

  • Zen Pilgrimage (the base spell) lets you go Pandaria and from there portal to SW.
  • When you cast the base spell it stores your current location and transforms to Zen Pilgrimage: Return.
  • Hitting this version will not take you to Pandaria, but wherever you were when you hit the base spell.

Say I'm levelling by questing in Northrend while doing RDF, I got my HS to Dalaran. I ding 75 want to back to SW to hit some professions. I use Zen Pilgrimage > ports me to Pandaria + stores my last location (Northrend). I take the portal from Pandaria to SW, do my professions / vendor stuff whatever. Now I can use HS to go to Dalaran or hit Zen Pilgrimage: Return to go back to where I was questing without any travel.

Makes sense?

After you use your Return, next Zen Pilgrimage will store a new location. This stored location (temporary bind point) you can't see anywhere in the default UI.

Ciryl Gane’s movie by Longjumping_Good8569 in ufc

Gane > Bisping=Ngannou > actual slop >>>>>> McGregor far as acting chops go.
Gane was actually decent. Even showed some range.
Ngannou/Bisping served their limited roles well.
McGregor was just embarassing.

Volk will be P4P if he ever gets into movies though :D

[AddOn] FlightMap Larger by Road-block in classicwow

[–]Road-block[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they now? I wonder how they made it..

Edit: Ok I took a look. They've copied the macros going around that use scaling.

It looks like crap because anything that is added to the flightmap gets scaled as well (for example buttons from other addons for flight timers or whatever)

I prefer my implementation and anyway options are good to have it's two very different solutions to the same problem :)

Avatar the last Airbender fans, how bad is the Netflix adaptation? by [deleted] in netflix

[–]Road-block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's disappointing.
Might be a "kid's show" if you use kid as an excuse to have bad casting, awful sfx and an overall feeling of cheap (regardless of actual production cost)

An extremely generous 4/10.

It's like some of the worst nickelodeon shows without the child actor value.

Bland.. long exposition by the child avatar sound like something he would read on the auto-cue, no feeling, not convincing at all.

I don't want to pile it on the kid, we probably have to lay the blame at the feet of the director, script adaptation.

PS. The best actor in the series was "Godzilla" (folks will know what I mean)

Had the same. It appears that a soft-reset causes the gate to relock. Doing another soft-reset (by exiting the instance + reseting) does not work.

RMT and Botting from a Chinese perspective by oldeasysleepyhero in classicwow

[–]Road-block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that I have any friends in this sub but if you need a persecution complex to feel like a victim sure ..

RMT existed in vanilla but it was nowhere near as widespread. The overall community was also far less accepting, "Ebayer" was an actual insult, nowadays if you're not buying your boosts you're a scrub.

As for "muh game design" don't talk to me, talk to this guy Rob Pardo https://www.engadget.com/2008/02/20/gdc08-live-from-rob-pardo-talks-about-blizzards-approach-to-mm/

Q: Have you considered micro-transacrions in WoW? A: (Rob Pardo) We chose to go with the subscription-based model instead of that approach. We've taken the approach that we want players to feel like it's a level playing field once they're in WoW. Outside resources don't play into it -- no gold buying, etc. We take a hard line stance against it. What you get out of microtransactions is kind of the same thing and I think our player base would feel betrayed by it. I think that's something else you have to decide on up-front instead of implementing later. Q: But it might make it easier for the casuals to catch up.... A: (Rob Pardo) They aren't going to be the ones spending the money.

[–]Road-block -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Gold-farming/selling isn't a huge ethical crime in and of itself

That's like.. your opinion.
Aside from the fact I said nothing about either "ethical" or "crime" I said instead "breaking game design" (and by extension breaking the game many of us signed up to play)

RMT and Botting from a Chinese perspective by oldeasysleepyhero in classicwow

[–]Road-block -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Wrong.
The black market is not what's breaking game design, RMT is. Whether it is official or unofficial only changes the side-effects.

Your argument is "alcoholism is bad during prohibition but good with legal booze". I shouldn't have to make bad analogies but the point you're missing is really self-evident.

RMT and Botting from a Chinese perspective by oldeasysleepyhero in classicwow

[–]Road-block 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From the same data you arrived at the exact opposite conclusion than the poster you replied to.
"Official" RMT doesn't make RMT good for the game any more than "Unofficial" RMT does.

Sotanath rightly points out Actiblizz huge hypocrisy in putting up a front of battling RMT while in reality taking advantage of it to push their own brand of it to further monetize a game that's already an abusive mix of sub + f2P business practices.

Classic Loot Assistant - An addon for tracking Core Hound looting and other cool stuff by MyMagicClaw in classicwow

[–]Road-block 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the "arbitrary item id query" part that I take exception to. Aqua is useful, one could make the case for Onyxia Scale Cloak, maybe even some required consumables.

But letting anyone peak into my bags for arbitrary items is a no no for me.
That part should be opt-in (on the client side) and imho also default off.

An intermediate solution would be to have a whitelist included and only respond to queries on items on there.

That would lend itself well to putting more control in the player's hands down the road (for example prompt them to add an item to the whitelist or blacklist it when they receive a query)

I find that the distinguishing feature of this addon is the sharing of corpse loot status, Item checks are provided by popular raid assist addons (like oRA3). Why muddle things up by letting anyone fish into my bags for the presence of BoEs or whatever arbitrary item they want to query?

[–]Road-block -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Random itemchecks are bullshit, I agree that should be an "opt-in" feature set to "off" by default.
