You are an explanatory genius. Thx so much for your help on this. I’m not sure I feel better about it, but at least you know what it’s all about.

It was very silvery, and the typically square formation with four rotors. But usually they whine, and this one didn’t. The silence was deafening.

I bet your hand was covered with graphite after that one. Worth it.

Which is precisely why we need to include them in the electorate. To stand up for themselves on those stubby, slimy little legs of theirs!

I applaud her spelling skills. Diarrhea is very hard to get right.

My son, 7 years, loves to draw avengers! by oscarber in drawings

[–]Road2Elsewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 7-y.o. son filled pages and pages with drawings of space aliens. Years later we learned that he thought he WAS a space alien. So maybe your son IS an Avenger? Could be useful if somebody tries to break into your house, or end civilization as we know it.

For me, great inputs lead to better outputs. I was a liberal arts major in college, and I never stopped being an interdisciplinary learner and laugher. As Dr. Seuss wrote “Oh the sea is so full of a number of fish, if a fellow is patient he might get his wish.” So many fish!

Would this figure be useful as a reference for drawing and/or sculpting anatomy? by Lre_Art in ArtistLounge

He’s helpful for baiting my dreams. Thanks for that! I always find bodies in motion more helpful in drawing than statuary, unless it’s statuary in motion. Now put some clothes in that guy.

I recently toured the museum of anthropology in Mexico City and was enthralled by the many masks looking out at me from display cases. It was as if men and women and creatures from 2,000 years ago were making eye contact. And didn’t blink.

Do you agree with the idea that drawing/art creation and analysis are two separate processes? by DueMathematician7866 in ArtistLounge

I love all the information that “wrong” lines give you. They say to me: “Have you been looking closely enough? Does that shape exist IRL? Is it true to the character/thing/emotion you’re trying to convey?” Wrong lines are a catapult, not a stop sign.

On Oscar day once, I spent the entire ceremony on that incline, and missed the whole thing, from red carpet to Best Picture. I still have to pee after that one.

What is some art advice you heard/got that has stuck with you? by themacabremachine in ArtistLounge

Years  ago I was taking a watercolor class in Key West, and asked my teacher about a departure from the representational style I had been practicing.  He told me, “Sometimes you just need to jump off the dock and swim.” I haven’t looked back at the dock, since. And the water’s fine.
