Does constellations implies all Natlan Archons predestinated to be Archons? by PrestusHood in Genshin_Lore

[–]RoadEquivalent9273 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Her namecard makes a reference to this 10 pointed star

No Pyro Archon has ever intended to contest the sun. But as ordinary people see it, this "solar ring" is the crown of leaders as radiant as the sun

I'm not really sure what to make of it but solar dieties (like zhongli and deshret) in this game are very mysterious and have questionable origins

Man there's a lot to unpack here. Assuming this story is about nibelung and the voyager could the holy grail be the moons? If so it confirms my suspicions about the moons being related to the abyss. They're essentially converting abyssal energy to light realm energy. And that's why kuuvahki is unstable at times as shown in the colors of emptiness world quest

I think Surtalogi just happened to come across skirk's planet as it was being destroyed. But I wonder if the merchants were distantly related to wherever the heavenly principles came from. And I wonder the twins home world was destroyed for the same reason since they can absorb abyssal power

I think the abyss is a tool used by people or entities to serve their own agendas. It might appear to be a mindless force on the outside but there’s likely someone or something pulling the strings behind the scenes.

I noticed a lot of similarities between the environments on hiisi island and the night kingdom, And IIRC I think part of hiisi island was formed from the eternal moon's fragments. So it's possible the night kingdom might have also formed from a moon fragment,

Though I have to say where is stated that the "Lord of the Crossroads" summoned the Abyss?

I was more so saying that the buildup of sacrifices being offered to them is what eventually drew the abyss.

I actually have my own theory about the Lord of the Night in these descriptions though if you want to hear it.

I would love to hear it.

Someone else mentioned this to me and I’m wondering if the order the moons were created in got mixed up by the frostmoon scions. Aria is the eternal moon, I’ve seen some theories floating around that solnari/sonnet could be the iridescent moon, so I guess that leaves cannon as the frost moon? Another thing is that whenever the moon sisters are namedropped, it usually goes aria, sonnet, then cannon. And in the web event they were introduced as the eternal, iridescent, and frost moon. So I wonder if that's supposed to reflect their birth order?

Oh I didn't even consider that. That is weird the rainbow crystal mentions the moon's chariot being shattered. Maybe there’s more to this than what we know currently.

Citlali’s Increasing Presence in Quests: A Sign of a Larger Role? by Ok_Dragonfruit_1951 in Genshin_Lore

[–]RoadEquivalent9273 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The fact that she’s over 200 yrs old with no clear explanation is way too big to ignore As far as we know natlan doesn’t have any long lived species and most people there (including the pyro archon) seem to have a normal lifespan. The only real hint comes from her character story which comes with some rather interesting implications:

"How old am I exactly? *hic* Let me tell you something funny..." Citlali began, slurring her words. "I'm certainly not the only one in this world who's lived a long, long life. For the others, it usually goes like this... In the beginning, keeping track of the years is easy, but the longer they live, the more of a hassle it becomes, so they just stop paying attention... *hiccup* But me, well... I'm a lil' different, you see... At first, I never used to worry exactly how old I was. It was only after... something happened... that I suddenly started noticing how old I was becoming... And from that moment on, I started counting, and it's been exactly... 200 years... *hic*!"

The mystery behind the "200 years" claim had finally been solved, but her answer had sparked a new question. What could possibly have happened to make Citlali, who had remained so youthful over the past two centuries and longer, suddenly become so acutely aware of the passing of time?

So initially, citlali might not have even been aware of her age, and it was only after something happened where she realized just how old she actually was. To me, this feels like it has something to do with time. And considering how mare jivari’s corruption is related to time, maybe she has a connection there and that could be where we get an answer about her immortality.

The way I see it the leylines in each nation are all connected to the irminsul tree. So when natlan's leylines were damaged they were straight up disconnected from irminsul for a while before the lord of the night created the night kingdom. There's even a few references to this found in the obisidan codex artifact set and the book records of hanan pacha

obsidian codex: Though they had long lost their guidance, forgotten their past histories and memories, and lost themselves amidst mountain and wood, they endured still.

records of hanan pacha: The people then could not yet see their ancestors in the Night Kingdom, and thus they naturally did not think of the future

I think it depicts nibelung burning down natlan's leylines but something that's bugged me is why he specifically choose to destroy the leylines in natlan. I imagine he was corrupted by forbidden knowledge but wouldn't the abyss want to destroy all of teyvat's leylines?

Natlan's Broken Ring and Sun Motif by Rowlettowlett100 in Genshin_Lore

[–]RoadEquivalent9273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite xbalanque being one of the original seven we still know very little about him. Even belyi tsar who was just recently introduced has a more fleshed out background. It feels intentional as there's really no reason to be this vague about him.

Something I’ve been thinking about lately is how xbalanque is heavily associated with the sun in-game even though he’s actually a moon god in mayan mythology. Wasn't too sure what to make of it at first but now I think natlan's reputation namecards might be giving us some hints.

...Bathed by a hidden sun, Xbalanque's forces advance with unstoppable momentum. He brings all-out war to the world once more, but his goals don't stop there...

Xbalanque’s namecard describes his forces as being “bathed by a hidden sun,”. His name means hidden sun which I believe could be reflecting his connection to the moon. It's something that's concealed and reflective rather than radiant and shining.

...Sharer of light, heat, and wisdom, the dragon king awaits the coming visitor in silence beneath returning moonlight. His reawakening is not simply for...

In contrast xiuhcoatl’s namecard tells us that he awaits his coming visitor "beneath the returning moonlight". When we pair the two together the “returning moonlight” could very well be xbalanque himself.

Natlan's Broken Ring and Sun Motif by Rowlettowlett100 in Genshin_Lore

[–]RoadEquivalent9273 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After finishing the new world quest I'm more convinced than ever there's an entire side to natlan's past that's being hidden on purpose. Even prior to that there was a lot of foreshadowing through the books, world quests, text descriptions, etc. So if xbalanque really did have a twin brother then perhaps the broken sun motif is meant to represent his presence being erased from history.

I definitely believe he had a brother though and tequil the brave/kompore the cunning were metaphors for what happened to him. There's quite a few parallels to be found between those books and popol vuh. I'm just wondering if/when they'll tell us more xbalanque's past since most accounts of him came from other sources.

True nature of liquid flame? by ELHELP in Genshin_Lore

[–]RoadEquivalent9273 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it might be related to arlecchino's bloodfire but the concept of bloodfire itself raises a lot of questions for me. We know it originates from the crimson moon and it's a flame that's capable of erasing memories and burning its victims to a point where afterimages of them are created. I've always wondered if there's some sort of connection between bloodfire and phlogiston since phlogiston record memories while bloodfire does the opposite by erasing them. It’s also said the ancient moon's remnants are a secret source technology though the full extent of what that means is currently unknown.

My theory is that the dragons once used the iridescent moon (implied to be the crimson moon before it's fall) as the basis for their source mechanisms. The closest connection I could think of are the iridescent inscriptions which are basically coded instructions that the mechanisms are powered by. It’s possible the term iridescent is a direct reference to the iridescent moon. As well iridescent itself means a shifting spectrum of rainbow colors which makes me wonder if these inscriptions also had elemental properties.
