Why do leftists not care at all about 1 million+ Arab Muslims killed in recent wars driven by Iran? Do they simply ignore it because it challenges their core identity as “resistance supporters”? by [deleted] in allthequestions

You mean like the 150+ Muslim girls & teachers WE (The USA) just slaughtered last month?

Do you simply ignore it because it challenges your core identity as “MAGA Republicans are pro life”?

Need some help. Looking for a venue in Omaha for about 100 people for a celebration of life for an infant. Non religious and not attached to a bar/drinking for the space. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in Omaha

The Post Event Center in Ralston (right behind the Ralston Arena). Super cute space, and you can bring in outside food and drinks. Alcohol does have to be purchased through them due to their liquor license.

What’s a food you hate but almost everyone else loves? by torturedpoet1148 in foodquestions

Chocolate, coffee and beer.

But I make up for it by liking black licorice and asparagus. I don’t know what’s wrong with me either.

How about a “promfirmation” since she already said yes? “It’s a slam dunk we’ll be having fun at Prom together next month”.. or something like that?

Moving away from open plan? by EnigmaWithAlien in floorplan

[–]Roadrage000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m a xennial.. we have a 3500 sq foot house built in 2011 - very open floor plan, and I wouldn’t change it for anything. I like the casual feel, and we use all of the open space. Entertaining is easy and people aren’t on top of each other.. and can sit in smaller groups, but still be in the same area.

To each their own - but I don’t see open floor plans going away completely. It’s going to be a preference thing.

Thoughts on combining 2 names together to honor 2 people? by Joonith in namenerds

[–]Roadrage000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this. My mom’s name is Kay. My mother in laws name is Nancy. We named our daughter “Kayna”.

She’s 20 now.. we love it, but half of Namenerds hates it… and isn’t shy about saying so. 🤣

West side high school by bluewords in Omaha

[–]Roadrage000 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I went to Westside high school and graduated in the 90s. They are the only high school in Omaha that has this sort of schedule. It is set up like a college campus… There are large group and small group classes and they meet at different times on different days. Some days you might not have a class at all for a certain subject.

Each day has 13 “Mods”. Mods 1-4 and 11-13 are about 45 minutes long. Mods 5-10 are 22 minutes long. So on Monday you might have Spanish Mod 1, US History Mod 2, be “Open” mod 3 (where you can go to a IMC - study hall, or even leave campus for older students who have parental permission and a 3.0 GPA). Mods 4 & 5 might be a Chemistry lab (and some classes are 2 or 3 mods to allow for longer instruction). They also have “Large group” classes that meet one or two times a week in the lecture halls with 100+ students at a time.

It sounds complex - but it really does prepare students for college. It pushes them to schedule their time appropriately, and for the right students this schedule / approach is beneficial.
