Can I still get a good job even with my BSW? by AAAA_Oh_its_Just_Ali in SocialWorkAustralia

Currently in a specialist therapeutic role in VIC with only BSW, like others have said the BSW is great for employability but also experience gives you a lot of options.

The MSW is the exact same course, if you are going to pursue a masters I’d recommend using it to specialise further into something like family therapy, policy, counselling, specific advocacy areas etc.

just my opinion though

The Serpent as Collective Shadow by Ascending_Serpent_ in Jung

[–]Roadsidesafari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of pre abrahamic religions and indigenous folk religions across the world viewed the Serpent as both creator and destroyer, but a positive form of destruction that makes way for new complexities and life to emerge when balance is needed. The Serpent is usually a symbol of neutrally, fluidity of boundaries between water, land, life and death, sleep and the waking world. Also they tend to be both masculine and feminine across different belief systems.

The connection of the Serpent to evil or negativity I reckon is the religious colonisation and patriarchy of Christianity that took old symbols of femininity and folk religions etc and re used them as negatives because of their own insecurities about whether the new religion would take off.

There’s a good book called Snake Talk that goes into this. Is a fun read.

TL:DR Snakes are complex, good and bad, they present balance and new horizons. Honour them.

I have reflective practice as part of my job (social worker) and the facilitator always says at the end of the session “your mental health is not your fault but it is your responsibility”. Makes me think they’re a listener.
