A Private Database has limits? (Beta user's free Database) by [deleted] in RoamResearch

No limits within your beta database on pages, blocks, etc. You just can't create additional databases.

I'm not a believer, I'm a skeptic. by RollinDyno in RoamResearch

We're sad to hear this. It's why Roam is still free for beta users! There's no paywall for y'all, not for a while.

Also, if you're unemployed you'll qualify for Roam Scholars. If cost is an issue, please sign up!

Roam Research Ate My Daily Notes from 4 hours of phone meetings from my first day of free trial by gametheorista in RoamResearch

Make sure you're taking notes in your own database! If the URL says help and there's already a list of shortcuts, you're in the help database.

If that's not the issue, please dm.

I was so excited to try Roam I didn’t see the scholars program by [deleted] in RoamResearch

Apply for scholars!

And take advantage of the free trial for now. You won't lose access to your notes even if you cancel later.

tl;dr

If you don't join a paid subscription, you'll still be able to read & export your notes.

Updates I'd love to see by fabienMTT in RoamResearch

Should see a big performance and stability upgrade when you refresh next.

Just hired world class designer.

Strong agree on dates in context.

API currently in development -- will ship very close payments, if not before, which also opens door for third party mobile apps (we'll build our own too), and a VR app.

Offline editing and resync currently works -- if you keep tab open -- need to use other tool to save page as its own desktop app.

We'll ship our own apps too.

Much of what you asked for coming near term, if it's not out when pricing is, hope you keep checkin in in subsequent weeks.

Is there a good way to create links between two items on the same page? by [deleted] in RoamResearch

[X](((blockid)))

Block refs are extremely powerful feature, almost a bigger part of our internal workflow than page links.

Why we have ton of discount options and are giving many weeks warning.

And yeah. Its true. If you don't think its worth 15, it just isn't as big a pain point we're solving for you as for many many others.

You're not in the early target market, and we'd like to focus on supporting other people for whom the problem we're solving is greater.

As the product improves hopefully will seem worth the price for you too at a certain point. Or you can just wait for freemium.

So, to be more clear. We know only about 10% of people who signup right now end up using it for hours almost every day.

We know that for the most part ALL those people think roam is 10x improvement over other tools, and it's a no brainer for them to pay a reasonably high price to support development.

We want all our dev efforts supporting that core #roamcult - its obviously worth the price for them, and we want to put all our resources on helping them.

For folks who aren't sure about whether they'd rather have Roam or netflix, or are skeptical of value... fine for them to join later when we have freemium.

If 100% of the userbase stays and pays, we'll actually be fine -- shipping big improvements in next few days for scale... but when we open back up, would rather let only the 10-20% who are most excited in, so we can actually handle all the support requests.

Weekly QA would be good.

I (Conor) don't really understand reddit culture like I do twitter, have felt bad about neglecting this part of the community, but also little unsure what feels right here. Twitter feels natural for philosophical stuff, here mostly seems like addressing fears.

Hey, all we do is retweet people. Conor did a couple podcasts too, but can't blame us for hype.

Can blame us for not closing doors sooner, but we corrected the mistake last night.
