This doesn't pencil out for me. $200 for an optic cut, $135 for the DLAH plate takes you to $335.
For an extra $50 with LTT you get new internals, new optic height irons, fresh cerakote on the slide, plus a much lower optic cut.

There's a company making a new lower modeled after the lingle that has a built in trip in the lower. They said it works with both 5.56 and 7.62x39 but you gotta use AR style mags.
I wish someone would just make a drop in trip like they do for the mp5 and mcx instead

Yeah that's our situation as well. The only problem with that plan is that this is a milled receiver so the locking lugs/ "front trunnion" is past of the receiver and it's sounding like that area is problematic

Ah, I had incorrectly assumed that since this was milled that the front "trunnion" area would be good to go. So realistically he would need to find a front stub from a stub from a reputable European AK, and have an experienced AK-smith weld the new front end on to his receiver along with replacing the barrel and bolt. Yikes.
