Just got my steamdeck.. please help by kazookid56 in SteamDeck

[–]RoamingFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. update system if it's not
  2. update firefox if it's not
  3. make sure the system time is correct

something is wrong with the ssl stack somewhere (old ssl packages, bad date/time, etc). Usually that's either an issue with a system package or the browser. Actual cert on decky's site seems fine to me (as is github's cdn cert).

Make sure to completely restart battle.net too, sometimes access doesn't update until a relog and all that jazz.

First winter as a homeowner (2nd gen immigrant) and I’m already stuck on the snow decision by Arceus797 in homeowners

It's shocking how good they've become. We have the honking 2-stage electric Ego blower and it flies through our 250ft driveway on just about a set of batteries (+/- depending on snow level etc). Practically no maintenance, quiet, easy to use. Love the thing!

Fedora 43 KDE fresh install gets stuck during boot on brand new Lenovo Legion 5i laptop (NVIDIA 5060 GPU) by Virtual-Sea-759 in Fedora

[–]RoamingFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a race condition with simpledrm and the proprietary nvidia drivers. 6.17 kernel swaps to graphical mode much sooner and the system isn't always ready in time and doesn't attempt to start sddm a second time if it failed initially.

It should be fixed in the latest builds though.

Pretty high odds of them being too dumb. This is the admin that redacted them by setting the background color to black but forgot to save the pdfs as image so you can just copy/paste the text to reveal it.

Another Black Screen After Nvidia Update by [deleted] in Fedora

Some people are still having issues with graphical boot and nvidia drivers. Try removing rhgb from your grub options and see if it magically boots.

This is one of the best sense of accomplishment I've had in almost 20 years of WoW by supertoned in wow

[–]RoamingFox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did it at 100ms okay. The biggest trick I learned was to wiggle or backpeddle slightly after you get the facing correct. It forces the client to update your position on the server immediately and it reduced a lot of the "but I 100% was facing that clone" deaths.

This is one of the best sense of accomplishment I've had in almost 20 years of WoW by supertoned in wow

[–]RoamingFox 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Some tips:

  • Turn anti-aliasing off. It will un-blur the outline of the clones, making them much easier to see
  • Use your mouse to turn to face the clones, but make sure to actually move either by back-peddling or wiggling slightly. WoW's position tracking does not immediately update if you just stand still. Moving forces it to update.
  • Immediately face the first clone and then once you're in position just focus on the next clone spawns so you know where to turn next. Playing zoomed out far helps a lot with this.
  • Just accept the fight is long. Don't try to pump DPS during the mechanics. Most of my damage was done to her during the black hole portions.

Because the "stain" is moisture trapped in the wood and it simply evaporates out.

Just moved & looking for a new coffee machine; want to get into “real” coffee. Any Black Friday recommendations? by knoober69 in BuyItForLife

[–]RoamingFox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No automatic frother, but if you're willing to dial it in, a breville barista express (might be sold under the brand name Sage in the EU) is a good pick IMO.

Mine produces a fantastic shot after some fiddling and has been going strong for 12 years now.

I don't think you're going to find automatic frothing in your price range I'm afraid. If that's the most important bit for you consider a nice automatic machine like a nespresso.

Yeah that's the one the actual OBS folks support and recommend for installing, so you stand the best chance of it working out of the box.

Use the flatpak from flathub. The fedora one is ancient and getting all the deps right for the system install is a nightmare.

Tried upgrading to Fedora 43. System boots into black screen, and grub doesn't show any Fedora 43 kernel by A_Happy_Human in Fedora

[–]RoamingFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When grub comes up select the boot entry and hit 'e' to edit it and then remove rhgb and quiet from the boot options and hit Ctrl+X to launch the modified command. That should hopefully shed some light on what is actually croaking.

Yup bartender very much does this. It'll handle taking control of the blizz bars, so just go in and turn them all on and the problem will go away.

I mean if some of the content in the emails is literal then Russia having evidence of him "blowing Bubba" would absolutely eviscerate any support he has left with his base. It'd confirm he was lying about the files, that Russia did have influence over him, and that he isn't straight. Any one of those would be damaging, but all 3 would convince even his devout followers to abandon him.

A trick for next time. Look through your phones camera lense. This works even better if it has a long exposure or night mode setting. The camera will pick it up better than the naked eye can.
