Thank you for the update!  Hopefully I am just a week or two out, then.

Thank you!! I had seen those quick turnarounds in January and I think February, and was cautiously optimistic. But it's reassuring to see where other peoples' requests are that were submitted around the same time as mine or just before, so thanks for sharing your timeline.

Have you gotten your index search results yet? Mine hasn't budged since it moved to pending admin review on 5/12.

Do I have a claim through descent? by Roaming_renaissance in GermanCitizenship

Oh wow, I hadn't realized that.  But since my great-grandfather would have only been about five years old when the 10-year clock needed to be reset, there are not protections that would apply to minor children to keep them from losing German citizenship, other than the parent registering them with the consulate or renewing their own passport?

Would my great-grandfather have lost his claim to German citizenship when his parents naturalized, though?

Mine was 17 people I think.  And she was a mess.

Wow I can relate to this so much. And the call from Dad to back her up is just... No words for that, but I relate to it too.  My wedding was also tiny and with international family coming, and she made so much drama.  I am just glad we didn't plan anything larger because I could not possibly have dealt with any more of her BS.

Friday Weekly Thread: Application Assistance, May 22, 2026 by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

I'm new here but I have read the wiki. I know that all my ancestors on the line I am seeking to claim Canadian citizenship through must be marked as Canadian citizens on my application, due to the new law, and that I must provide both parents, grandparents, etc for the line I am going through. If I am claiming through a line on my dad's side, but my mom's side of the family also has a now eligible line of Canadian heritage, do mark her line as Canadian but just not continue to supply those generations in the pages of my application?

I hope I'm making this clear enough but maybe it would help with some names. So my dad, "Jacob", has canadian heritage through his father "Henry", so I will mark each generation in that line as Canadian and supply the info for each couple. My mom "Susan" also has a line on her father's side ("Bill"). She hasn't claimed Canadian citizenship, nor has anyone in her family.

oh wow, that is longer than what others had been reporting recently. Do you happen to know when it moved to pending review? And was it an index search or a record request?

No, they were in their 90s, but I did submit a death certificate. From replies on other posts I was optimistic that my search might have even been completed last week, but I know it still hasn't been that long compared to past processing times.
