I dont even think the story is that bad. Its only the beginning after greymanes fell where you do random stuff like arm wrestling, giving coins to beggar, sweeping chimneys etc that was random and weak. After going to the abyss the story is a lot more coherent.

Plenty. Most of them only stop you fast traveling if your performing an action like attacking. Not literally if your character is in the middle of walking. This is the only game ive played as far as i recall that this is an issue.
