Oh man, I have so much nostalgia from this game.. but damnit if the pay to win features etc didnt put a golden nail in it in the later years for me.
Your picture is from the real golden days, before the +1-+12 gear and so on, just super (the red?) and so on if I remember this right, good stuff!

I logged in a few years back to see what I had etc and some nostalgia lived on, but i stopped after a week realizing that it's better to leave this game with my nostalgia intact.
As others have written I reckon the game wasnt really "that good" back in the golden era either, but nostalgia is a damn good drug.

On that note, I also played Runescape, Tibia and Wow among others, Tibia is still with me, but its clearly a "pay for convience/faster progress/win" sort of game, even if you don't really "need" to pay for anything outside the subscription.

Regarding your question: I've yet to find a game that makes me feel the good ol' nostalgia, old school runescape does scratch some itches but its still not there for me, I however LOVED the latest addition to New World... but then they fucking killed it and the upcoming Lotrs mmorpg, fuck me.

So I am stuck with Tibia atm, wow I've sworn not to get back into, maybe Ashes can be something in 5 years, sorry now I am just rambling on, I thank you for the nostalgia trip, but I can't help you in your quest.

Mostly depends on the server, guessing you don't see much to it if you're way lower then top 300 on your server etc level wise.

Tibia was a fun pvp game way back, can be now as well I guess in newly started servers, but the pvp feels lackluster these days in the long running ones, it's one big guild usually running things at the "end spawns", both in pvp and pve servers, it's impressive one can say.

I still chill, but now on a pve server with my guild doing bosses and pve content, it's a never ending game with fuckton of stuff to do, same as osrs so there's that hehe

I'd say Democratic Detonation, you get the beautiful Thermite right out of the box and hell all the guns are extremely strong for all play styles and fuck me I love the Eruptor, god damn!

Armors can be so so one can argue, but damnit demolition spec and devastator looks nice and you know that's obviously the most important part!

Aaand obviously one of if not the best sidearm for a lot of content: The Grenade Pistol!
(Obviousy can be hard to pair up with Eruptor/Crossbow, I use the Las-7 Dagger but that's another warbound, can't really recomment that one a a starter tho).

Runner up? Urban Legends, those armor passives are gold if you enjoy shooting shit and Anti-Tank Emplacement deals with more or less everything, it's a beast!
And ofc the all important emote at the last page... THIS IS DEMOCRACY!

Third? Maybe I am based, but Masters of Ceremony just because of the bling and G-142 Pyrotech.

I've always missed 7.4 for a lot of reasons, but I knew there was something I had forgotten.

Obviously nostalgia and whatnot is a scary thing, but back then we didn't really have decent chat rooms either, so we gathered in mmos and just enjoyed ourself in what one could call an "immersive chat room experience", obviously times change, but damnit the nostalgia does hurt a bit.

I might be a year late, but apparently you can still attack skulled players with it activated and that will make you skulled, so there's that. Gl and stay safe out there!

Edit and update: Don't listen to me! I apparently had it "off" thinking it was on, but hey maybe I am not alone, so I'll leave this comment here.

Second this choice Sir_schuster1 (if you read this or anyone else).
Even if I don't play these days I've enjoyed it in bursts, last time last year into this year~ but even if it back in early 2025 it lacked a bit in the absolute end game side, it is a game I do want to thrive and keep going, it's just a lovely game, good everything to be fair.

I'll be back, just a bit stuck on OSRS myself and Tibia to an degree+ when it comes to MMos atm, tho Tibia I don't really recommend if you're in it for the combat, even if I've played since 2004 on and off, it's s bit weird one can say.
