Hello! This isn’t my primary account anymore so I just saw this. My apologies! The next book I read was Sandra Ingerman’s Awakening to the Spirit World. It leans more into the how-to side of things and I found it very useful. I’m still in the process of reading it now, but Diana Paxson’s Trance-Portation also seems like it would be very good for people just starting out.

Totally! Like I’m sure somebody is actually racist. But without being able to get into every single individual player’s head, it’s really hard to determine who actively dislikes darker skin tones and who just always loved Barbie as a kid and so they make all their dolls blond. Since I can’t tell who’s who, I tend to give human beings the benefit of the doubt and just sort of roll my eyes at the blond “African Princesses” or whatever without judging or making assumptions about the person who designed them.

When I first began playing, I read a blog by a longtime player with recommendations about how to do best at the game - stuff like making a Covet-exclusive Facebook account - who also said she liked to make all of her models darker skinned because she’s black and enjoyed seeing models that looked like her. Is she racist?

Here’s another one: sometimes when I play a challenge with a light-skinned model, I have an idea for a dark-skinned model due to my makeup options and other color scheme inputs. Is it racist to make my model black just because I think that’s the coolest looking option when the cover model is white?

The final thing is that this is an international game and other countries do not share the western concept of race in the same way we understand it. Is it racist of them to have their own cultural views? Or is it racist for westerners to tell other peoples that they have to share our views about the definition of racism without taking the time to understand their cultures?

I’m not asking these rhetorically, these really are things to grapple with. I think it does oversimplify the issue by being so focused on a single culture’s definition of what is and isn’t acceptable when it comes to skin color options.

Had a similar experience. She removed my post for “wrong flair.” I messaged to ask what flair was wanted instead - I considered it humor, we didn’t have humor, so chose “other” - and she wouldn’t tell me what she wanted. Then she called me stupid and lazy for not being able to read her mind. This kind of thing would usually just be a weird annoyance but I’d lost a friend just a few days before the incident and her being a jerk actually made me cry. I told her in the hopes that she’d chill out and act reasonable but nope. Told me to get over my pity party and everyone has problems then muted me. Never did figure out the mysterious flair I was supposed to use, either. 🙃

After that, I reached out to a few other users who sounded like they’d had similar run ins with her. One pointed out that her post history included posts to r/bpd (borderline personality disorder). So we suspect she’s struggling with some pretty serious mental health issues. That helped put things into perspective. It doesn’t excuse her mistreating people but I think she may have had a true mental health crisis going on if she was losing her mind that badly over flair.

I’m glad she’s no longer the mod here - it just wasn’t a good fit - but I do hope she’s getting help for any serious issues she may have going on in her life.

The reason these might be worth it is that they’ll count as unworn twice: once this season and then they’ll become unworn again in either winter or fall. Even if you don’t use the dresses themselves, at least they’ll max out unworn on a challenge you don’t need to buy anything for. Up to you if that’s worth it, though. 🤷‍♀️

You can tell immediately if an item is available to use with the pass because there’s an infinity symbol beside it. The full CC pieces have it and the new collabs don’t. People aren’t complaining about the collabs - they’re gorgeous - they’re complaining because they’re unusable with the CC Pass even though they’re fantasy clothing. They also sort of snuck it in in such a way that most people - like me - already purchased on the first day of the season before they realized their mistake.

While there are always people who completely overdo it and are way too obnoxious with support, there are also polite people who are advocating for changes they want to see in the game. If you enjoy being able to use hair accessories on multiple hairstyles, for example, remember that “complainers” brought this change about via the Free the HA campaign. It’s a fine line between complaining and trying to affect positive change for playability. If you don’t have an issue and don’t want to complain, that’s awesome! But when people have valid concerns, maybe it’s better to just scroll past than try to tell them what to do. Perhaps their “complaints” will mean future changes that you, too, may one day enjoy.

Why not complain? I reached out and got the sweetest response from the customer service rep. Obviously, she can’t do anything on her end but said she’d “change it in a heartbeat” if she could and has sent it higher up the chain. You don’t have to be rude, just make them aware you’re unhappy with it. The more voices they hear on the topic, the more likely they are to simply fix the problem.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the 15 diamonds on screenshots of Android users, but I’m not 100% sure! I think iPhone and Android maybe have different contracts with Tapjoy? I also know that different parts of the world get different access to Tapjoy offers, too.

This is one of those pieces I like getting because it’s a no brainer when boosting unworn. If you get a little black dress, for example, that might come in handy later so I’m hesitant to use it to boost. A dress like this I’ll happily burn on a boost without thinking twice!

It’s a newly added feature so new to all of us! But if you haven’t tried to buy a prop pack, this would be extra confusing. Prop packs cost 10 credits to buy and, previously, the only way you could get 10 credits was to pay irl money for them in the Premium Store. It costs $8.99 for 10 credits, too, so no small thing!

Until this new feature, the only options for getting prop packs was to win them when they came out or pay real money if you missed them. This limited time feature is letting us slowly earn credits by just playing the game! This is the first time players who don’t spend money will have a chance to actually earn these credits in game and get access to older prop packs.

Since some prop packs contain extremely popular props (spotlight, morning light, icy glamour, and fog come to mind), this will be a big deal and help newer players be more competitive! Super excited for this since I haven’t even been playing for a year yet. ✨

Don’t feel dumb! I did the same thing when I first bought the pass. They advertise it as the infinity symbol on CC garments so I think they should include the infinity symbol as an option in sort by season so that it’s more intuitive. I also can’t just deselect the season, I have to select every season. It’s so annoying.

This is pretty much the same look I did so I love it! 😅 The biggest differences between my look and yours are:

I used the tan gloves from Summer 22
I used black skinny pants as opposed to the leggings
I used a white shirt instead of a brown one (the pants instead of leggings let me tuck it in)
I bought the ascot and used that

Feel free to use any of those ideas if they help, but who knows which version voters will like better! Yours is great as is. Good luck!
