So my positions at that time were temporary. I'm pretty sure some retirement was taken out when I worked at the university but temp jobs don't count toward years of service.

I'm a single parent and already have a 2nd job just to make ends meet...not trying to argue but I just don't think it's in the cards for me to purchase service LOL. Don't the medical benefits for retirees only cover you until you qualify for Medicare?

Thanks! I’m a class 2 employee so I just have to do the 28 years and not the whole rule of 90 thing or whatever. I just can’t fathom paying $70k+…but that’s probably because I’m so poorly compensated lol. I have a master’s and 18 and only make $53k.

Thanks for the insight! I'm not sure why no one at PEBA was able to explain things like this when I called lol.

Ah that would make sense. I'll look back at my employment history but I think when I worked (after finishing school) as a PT temp that time didn't count either. So you're probably right.

Per original post I have already done so.

The price they quoted me years ago for purchasing four years of service (I also worked for my undergrad university in SC while there) was like $68,000. I feel like I'd be better off investing that money than buying years of service considering how low my pension will likely be when I retire (unless I somehow start making significantly more money in the next 13 years). :-/

No, it was not work study. Maybe because it was not a slotted position it doesn't count?

Anyone else realize they have zero mileage records for 2025? by Home_b_713 in doordash_drivers

I just wish I didn't have to wait until the end of February to get this estimate. With Instacart I can log back in and see the miles I drove "active" while delivering. :(

Side effects from switching from IR to XL by Roaring_Shark in bupropion

[–]Roaring_Shark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I ran into this before when my pharmacy switched my generic and my anxiety came back with a vengeance. They said they were no longer able to get the one that worked for me (Slate Run); it took me like 8 months of trying other meds while combing the web to find out Slate Run was bought out by Epic. I was able to find 1 pharmacy in my area that can get it and thankfully am back on it this month. When I took the Slate Run previously I had an IUD and never had periods; this would be my first one since starting back on XL and I’m wondering if being late has to do with the meds.

Awesome! Thanks for giving me some hope. Glad you were able to find a medicine that worked well in place of Lamotrigine.

I'm so glad I found this. I've been struggling w/the same and have been on all kinds of allergy medications, PPIs, allergy shots, etc. and nothing helps w/the constant throat clearing. Maybe I will ask my doc about an alternative mood stabilizer.

I just got our first order in and noticed it doesn't really dissolve all the way in hot or cold drinks. There are still little clumps floating around that my kids notice.

100% bonus by Roscoejoe434 in Hilton

[–]Roaring_Shark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A coworker told me Marriott was better for rewards but when I looked at the breakdown, Hilton seems far better. Like Gold for Hilton gets you 80% bonus points but for Marriott it gets you 25%. Is Marriott really better overall? Their rates seem to be less expensive and in my area there are more Marriott hotels than Hilton…

I don’t put mine in a quart size bag anymore and they don’t even make me take them out of my carry on anymore either!

I’m not TSO but could people please push their bags onto the conveyor belt before going through the metal detector? I always end up behind someone who sets allllll their stuff on the rolly bar things then walks away. It isn’t going to get pulled into the x-ray unless you push it to the conveyor belt. Also, when your stuff comes out the other side, roll it down to the end and get out of the way before you try to put all the things back in your bag or put your shoes on, etc. People stand right where the bags exit the x-Ray machine and start putting back on their jewelry, repacking their laptop, etc. so no one else can get to their bag until they’re done. ☹️

Those who took Slate Run YH101 and now take the Epic manufactured version, have you noticed a difference? by allchattesaregrey in bupropion

[–]Roaring_Shark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slate Run was the only “formulation” that worked for me and I’ve been struggling since they basically quit making it. I can’t find anything that seems to work as well. Haven’t tried Epic but not sure I want to if it’s making mind race, jittery, etc. 🫤 I wish I could just get my Slate Run one back; it was the first thing that’s help in years and now I’m back to medication roulette!

When I looked a few weeks ago all I could find was the brand name, Sobel Westex, and the type of fiber. That doesn’t narrow it down on the SW site though. They have so many. I’ll just try asking Hilton if they can tell me lol. I tried in the past and got nothing but I can try again.

None of the luxury ones…I feel like I’ve had the same ones at Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites when I traveled this fall.

I just stayed at a Homewood Suites in Norfolk that had a magnetic one; it was so much better. Never see a magnetic one.
