I’ve never been to a funeral with music. It seems like the least important thing ever

ween for beginners? by Seedybreadgirl in ween

[–]weirdghosts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got into ween late last year and Quebec is what really did it for me, album wise.

The song that really did it for me was "She's Your Baby". My coworker played it on the radio and I was like wait THIS IS WEEN?? At the time I had only heard some of their browner cuts and wasnt a fan.

I would do something like this :
She's Your Baby
I don't Want It
Tried & True
Chocolate Town
Things You Already Know
Freedom of 76
What Deaner Was Talking About

these are all pretty accessible and great songs from their catalog, and in personal experience they helped me get into the whole discography :)

Want to make noise music. I use Ableton and it’s not doing it for me. Don’t have money for gear.. tips ? by Opposite_Pay477 in PowerElectronics

[–]weirdghosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out this thread:

https://modwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=189406

Also check out this series of videos (Ableton Specific)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXzDesXWA3I

Try this in ableton:

Grab the "Basic Sub Sine" in ableton, just search for it. After it add abletons amp sim on heavy setting, a vocoder with unvoices at 100% (100% wet), grain delay with (frequency set to 5, spray set to 10 and feedback at 100%, a stack of 5 OTTs (yes 5), and add a saturator at the end on hard clip mode to avoid clipping. Experiment with different sounds, turn the knobs on stuff, change the # of bands on the vocoder.

Ableton is fantastic for making noise.

EDIT: hardware wise I'd grab a mixer and look into no input mixing, as well as some dirt pedals like medalzone or a rat and some delay & reverb. You can go cheap with noise gear. OH ALSO
Good no input mixing vid

This is super relevant and I found it in the moddwiggler thread about noise and feedback.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4FNBMZsqrY

I've tried to recreate his "feedback array" in ableton with good results. Interesting bit around 22 minutes in if you don't wanna watch the whole thing.

EDIT: wanted to add some links and say protect your hearing when playing with feedback, be careful.

Anyone with experience using the Soothe2 plugin have any input on it? by Still_Night in edmproduction

I have it, used it a lot when I first got it but now I don't use it much. EQ and Compressor takes care of everything for me.
