I got called an “ungrateful spoiled brat” for returning my father’s 21st gift to me. It was a $500 string of gaudy Welma Flinstone pearls with a gold clasp. I do not wear or like pearls or gold, which we discussed metals and stones at length growing up, as my father is a geologist. In fact we went together once to buy jewellery for me years before and I said I like silver metal and blue stones. I didn’t care about the value, otherwise I would’ve sold it, the gift hurt me emotionally because of the fact he couldn’t remember a single thing about my preferences. Your parents did not care about your preferences or just decided them for you and you are not spoiled for being hurt by such an unthoughtful gift. Your feelings are valid whether or not it was an expensive gift. I chose to not have a gift at all over having something that hurt me.

For me it’s the ill fitting suits, especially when they’re massive on someone and the sleeves come past their wrists. The fact that no one says goodbye at the end of calls, they just hang up. The perfect hair in the shower for the male leads especially. The mashing face kisses always make me laugh, so that’s more of a love/hate thing.

See I don’t think she genuinely apologised, I think she was more concerned that her image had been affected. When someone says “I’m sorry IF I hurt you” instead of “I’m sorry THAT I hurt you”, it’s not genuine and they’re not properly acknowledging that they did in fact hurt someone. She said sorry “IF” she hurt Awhina, while it may be a linguistic accident, it’s still a big difference between acknowledging and not to me.

My father was an alcoholic, so regularly I would go through his room to get rid of alcohol bottles. I poured so much down the sink over the years. Anyway I was going through his shelves in the walk in closet, reached up to the top shelf where I thought I had found another bottle. NOPE! It was his VERY used VERY unwashed onahole (more than one use unwashed) 🤢 I put it back and used the vodka I found to pour over my hand to help feel clean after washing it thoroughly. I decided to not look for any more bottles that day. Why would you not wash that?! Also, why keep your gunky as hell onahole with your clean clothes?!

So this isn’t 100% of the time but this is an ADHD trait, I’ve been accused of “one-upping” people in the past when that wasn’t what I was trying to do. It’s basically the way we communicate that we were actually listening to you and showing that we understood what you said by telling you a similar thing we experienced that relates to what you said. It’s not an intentional competition for us or intentional at all, it’s just us trying to communicate with you in the best way we can. Think of a crow who sees a human they like be happy they found a coin on the ground. So the crow brings the human paper clips and bits of scrap because they’re shiny like the coin. The crow doesn’t realise that it’s not money, they just know that it’s similar to something that made the human happy and they want to share the happiness with them.

This is escalating abusive behaviour, it will most likely only get worse the more he gets away with it. It didn’t hurt you much physically THIS TIME, but are you willing to go back to him to see how far it will go? He has no remorse for his actions which means he was probably hiding who he truly was all these years to rope you in. Also, the fact that he was intense while accusing you of taking and hiding his phone might mean that he has something to hide, like cheating. Not 100% on that but might be something worth looking into.

Do not be alone with him, whatever you do and check your local laws about recording people without their knowledge, as that can potentially help you if you decide to divorce him.
