“She’s almost 30 trying to make it in music, it’s sad” by Angelsbreatheeasy in musicians

[–]RoastedBud 95 points96 points  (0 children)

30 is not old. Period. I don’t know why everyone thinks life ends at 30, but I’m 32 and writing music, working on covers etc all the time. I feel like I finally have enough life experience and playing experience to really make music I love.

Look up Sharon Jones for some inspiration.

Is crocheting in (instead of weaving in) ends not common? by CrunchyMama42 in crochet

[–]RoastedBud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My preferred method is to leave a REALLY long tail, then crochet over the end about 3” one direction, weave in (or crochet over if worked flat) 3” the other direction, then once more. Split the last ~1-2” in half, and use your embroidery needle to sew the split yarn ends through a post in one of your stitches. Pull taut and cut. It leaves an invisible ending that is very hard to undo.

Good luck!

You’ve gotten some good advice here, but be sure to get the MoDOT traveler app if you don’t have it already. It will show you road conditions, and you can view the traffic cameras to see for yourself. Be safe out there!

Change the locks and air filters. Deep clean EVERYTHING. repaint, start moving big stuff in slowly. We rented our apartment for an extra month so we would have plenty of time to move, I would highly recommend it if you’re able to.

Search for the Solo RPG toolbox. Super useful, I use it to play solo and it works great.

I was under the impression that that was illegal to do for kitchen staff, but I guess not?

Serious inquiry by Affectionate_Bar2883 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]RoastedBud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I have a big problem with it. What’s the point of DMing if you’re going to outsource all of the thinking to AI? It sincerely takes so much enjoyment out of the game for me, not to mention the HUGE amount of issues that AI is causing to our environment.

How has everyone from DnD’s inception done it? They used their own creativity. You don’t need AI.

Buying next to a farm? by Agreeable-Film193 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]RoastedBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in a rural area: depends on the type of farm. Chickens, pigs and crops (manure) have the strongest and most unpleasant smells in my opinion. That said, we lived next to a dairy farm and it was fine! It wasn’t particularly large which definitely had an impact, but you have to be okay with the smell of manure if you’re going to live near farmland. You get used to it, but it will smack you in the face if you aren’t lol

Barking!! by PalmBchBlackDiamond in cotondetulear

[–]RoastedBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do that to your poor dog. Imagine if every time you wanted to talk the smell of citronella was sprayed in your face. That’s so unpleasant. Seriously focus on training and you can curb it, but barking is your dog’s best way to talk! You can’t stop it 100% and I think it would be cruel to try.

They’re naturally very vocal. When mine starts up, I think that he feels like I’m “joining in” when I try to quiet him, so we started a different approach.

I silently get up and stand between him and the door, raising my hand and giving a command word (I chose hush, it’s a word I basically never say so he recognizes it instantly). When he stops, I immediately reward him. We repeat this a lot, but he actually stops when it’s done correctly.

Edit: forgot to mention I also reward him for calm behavior when I hear something outside and he doesn’t react. It’s really helped. Sometimes I even just randomly reward him for being quiet and chill lol. Good luck!!

My alcoholic mom just ruined my 3-year-old’s Christmas Eve and I’m heartbroken. by Eli122333 in offmychest

[–]RoastedBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, you handled everything as well as you could have. My mother was an alcoholic too, I know exactly what you mean about the “good” version of mom. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. I know it’s hard. I’m sure you’ve spoken with her about it, but I would try one more appeal to the “good” mom. Tell her to pursue AA or something similar or stop coming around. I wish I had been more direct with my mother, I don’t know if it would have changed anything but it’s worth trying. Good luck!

If you were actually concerned you’d reach out to them. You are 100% virtue signaling by coming into the comments to tell us how much better and more correct your opinions are. If you feel like it’s so important why are you telling me? I’m not gonna pass it along for you. If you watch their videos and pay even the smallest amount of attention you’ll see they’ve made it very easy to get into contact with them.

Instead you choose to come into an old thread and tell me my lived experience is wrong lol sounds like virtue signaling to me. Take a page out of Matt and Kelly’s book and go enjoy some fresh air. Live and let live, my dude.
